Exo 19:5 - Israel is supposed to bless the people.

5 Now therefore,

he says:

“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant

to raise up the tribes of Jacob

and to bring back the preserved of Israel;

I will make you as a light for the nations,

that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

Jer 11:10 this is the Lord speaking. Broken covenant.

They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words. They have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant that I made with their fathers.

What does God do, He promises a new covenant will be coming back one day

Jer 31:31

31 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the LORD.

Ezekiel says

26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh

God wants to use Israel to

Israel and desires to use them as a light to the world, and an image of what it means to be truly human and live according to God’s desires, and all of this is meant to undo the fall in the garden of Eden To put the world back together after having been so horrifically broken. This is why much of the prophecies that were given in the Old Testament are spoken as if two Israel all right look at.

And he said to me, you are my servant Israel, in whom I will be glorified. The servant is Israel in Isaiah 49 three is the Lord speaking,

Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”

4  But I said, “I have labored in vain;

I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity;

yet surely my right is with the LORD,

and my recompense with my God.”

5  And now the LORD says,

he who formed me from the womb to be his servant,

to bring Jacob back to him;

and that Israel might be gathered to him—

for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD,

and my God has become my strength—

6  he says:

“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant

to raise up the tribes of Jacob

and to bring back the preserved of Israel;

I will make you as a light for the nations,

that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

Israel was meant to be an example to all Nations and a light to the world. But Israel continued to break their covenant. So how can God continue to make these promises to Isreal? Here comes Jesus…

Jesus now arrive and He is 3 things: Moses, Torah and Israel. He’s the embodiment of the last two.

Moses says: Deu 18:18

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (Jewish people would take this as He is properly interrupting the law and that they had it wrong) On that sermon on the mount Jesus doesn’t say “for it is written” as if He’s turning them to the books Moses wrote through Yah, He says “I tell you”. Because Jesus is the fulfillment of Torah.

Now Jesus as the fulfillment of Israel. Why do you think Jesus 1. Escapes Egypt. 2. Jesus goes off in the wilderness. 3. Why He performers the things Israel was supposed to and live the life they were supposed to live? Because He’s walking/living our Israel journey and doing it perfectly and as His Father intended.

Who is Israel? Jesus! Jesus is the true fulfillment of Israel.

Jesus says I am the true vine

15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.

In the old testament several passages describes Israel as God’s vine. These passages emphasize boht God’s care for Israel and the nations’s responsibility to bear fruit.

Psalm 80:8–9 “You brought us from Egypt like a grapevine; you drove away the pagan nations and transplanted us into your land. You cleared the ground for us, and we took root and filled the land.”

Isaiah 5:1-2, Isaiah 5:7 “The nation of Israel is the vineyard of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. The people of Judah are his pleasant garden. He expected a crop of justice, but instead he found oppression. He expected to find righteousness, but instead he heard cries of violence.”

Jeremiah 2:21 “But I was the one who planted you, choosing a vine of the purest stock—the very best. How did you grow into this corrupt wild vine?”

Ezekiel 15:1–6 “Then this message came to me from the Lord: “Son of man, how does a grapevine compare to a tree? Is a vine’s wood as useful as the wood of a tree? Can its wood be used for making things, like pegs to hang up pots and pans? No, it can only be used for fuel, and even as fuel, it burns too quickly. Vines are useless both before and after being put into the fire! “And this is what the Sovereign Lord says: The people of Jerusalem are like grapevines growing among the trees of the forest. Since they are useless, I have thrown them on the fire to be burned.”

Ezekiel 17:5–10 “He also took a seedling from the land and planted it in fertile soil. He placed it beside a broad river, where it could grow like a willow tree. It took root there and grew into a low, spreading vine. Its branches turned up toward the eagle, and its roots grew down into the ground. It produced strong branches and put out shoots. But then another great eagle came with broad wings and full plumage. So the vine now sent its roots and branches toward him for water, even though it was already planted in good soil and had plenty of water so it could grow into a splendid vine and produce rich leaves and luscious fruit. “So now the Sovereign Lord asks: Will this vine grow and prosper? No! I will pull it up, roots and all! I will cut off its fruit and let its leaves wither and die. I will pull it up easily without a strong arm or a large army. But when the vine is transplanted, will it thrive? No, it will wither away when the east wind blows against it. It will die in the same good soil where it had grown so well.””

Hosea 10:1 “How prosperous Israel is— a luxuriant vine loaded with fruit. But the richer the people get, the more pagan altars they build. The more bountiful their harvests, the more beautiful their sacred pillars.”

But that vine failed and Jesus had to come to be the true vine and bear fruit. In order to redeem not only Israel, right remember Isaiah 49 he’s gonna bring back the preserved of Israel, but also all the nations all those who would repent in place faith in him and follow after him. Amen if they do that, they will partake of the new covenant in Jesus blood the one that Jeremiah and Ezekiel prophesied about the new covenant that would extend to the whole world. Best blessing all the families of the earth. Can you see the cohesion that goes all the way back to the Old Testament, right?

Galatians 3:29 “And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.”

Galatians 3:16 “God gave the promises to Abraham and his child. And notice that the Scripture doesn’t say “to his children,” as if it meant many descendants. Rather, it says “to his child”—and that, of course, means Christ.”

Airs according to promise. What was a promise the promises? Genesis 12 and 17.

Jesus is the fulfillment of Israel. So if you bless who???? Jesus Christ, you will be blessed. If you curse the fultillment of Israel… Jesus Christ!

However we ought to pray for Israel! Why? Romans 11:1–2 “I ask, then, has God rejected his own people, the nation of Israel? Of course not! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham and a member of the tribe of Benjamin. No, God has not rejected his own people, whom he chose from the very beginning. Do you realize what the Scriptures say about this? Elijah the prophet complained to God about the people of Israel and said,”

Romans 11:12 “Now if the Gentiles were enriched because the people of Israel turned down God’s offer of salvation, think how much greater a blessing the world will share when they finally accept it.”

This is a Jewish teaching method “from the lesser to the greater”, qal wahomer

Romans 11:17–18 “But some of these branches from Abraham’s tree—some of the people of Israel—have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree. But you must not brag about being grafted in to replace the branches that were broken off. You are just a branch, not the root.”

Romans 11:22 “Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off.”

Romans 11:25 “I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ.”

Romans 11:28 “Many of the people of Israel are now enemies of the Good News, and this benefits you Gentiles. Yet they are still the people he loves because he chose their ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
