Beatitudes

Pray
Who has a red letter bible?
The Atitudes we should have.
Matthew 5:1–3 CSB
1 When he saw the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2 Then he began to teach them, saying: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
“Poor in spirit”
Poor means a Beggar
This is not like the widow that gave two mites.
The Beggar that laid at the rich mans table Lazarus.
This is a starting point that everyone can get to you do have to have it all together.
If fact it is better if you do because we can feel we have a hand in the word done by the LORD.
Matthew the tax
Peter a fishermen
James and John also fishermen
Paul a Jewish leader that martyred Christians
Why was it that Jesus was up set often with the pharisees and the sadducees.
They were not poor in Spirit
Humility
Luke 18:9–14 CSB
9 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee was standing and praying like this about himself: ‘God, I thank you that I’m not like other people—greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get.’ 13 “But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest and saying, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than the other, because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Spiritual Bankruptcy
We can not add anything to the our salvation.
When we don’t understand our Spiritual Bankruptcy we can get mad at GOD.
Have you ever know someone mad at GOD because of some event in their life?
What does GOD owe you?
Not understanding our own Spiritual Bankruptcy can make us look down on other and not even share the Gospel with them.
What sin can the blood of Jesus not cover?
The fact of Poorness is understood
Mark 2:15–17 CSB
15 While he was reclining at the table in Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who were following him. 16 When the scribes who were Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 17 When Jesus heard this, he told them, “It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who are sick. I didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Reliance on GOD
When do you go to the doctor?
How do we know we are sick? When we see the symptoms.
Sins are the symptoms but the problem is our need for salvation.
We can just treat the symptoms and hope for Salvation.
We have to go to Jesus and have Him heal the sickness.
Pharisees look down on others because they did not do the thing they did.
This made the Pharisees feel as if they where more worthy of GOD forgiveness.
But it is not our action that bring Salvation it is WHO (Jesus) brings our Salvation.
Matthew 7:22–24 CSB
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers! 24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
What did they say?
Matthew 7:22 “22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’”
Look at what we did for you.
We must know what HE has done for us!
Romans 5:8–9 “8 But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 How much more then, since we have now been justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from wrath.”
He did the work on the Cross we need to know Him as our Lord and Savior.
We cann’t just know about Him we must have a relationship.
