How many of you have ever had something stolen Before? Once when we are on vacation we were ejoying a waterfall. We had to climb up this short path from the parking lot to see it. We could almost see our vehicle from where we were standing but it was obscured by a few small trees. While we were there this man that looked like he had never lived among socieity was running around through the woods with no shoes one. I mean this guy looked like he was the king of the hillbillies. Skinny scragly long beard, messy hair. And this man kept running from tree to tree peeking out from behind them and occasionaly whistling. Come to find out he was some form of a crazy lookout and below a guy and a girl smashed the lock out of our vehicle and stole Miss Hopes camera equipment worth a few thousand dollars.
Now the camera could be replaced but you know the worst part of it all. There was an SD card in the camera bag with tons of photos of memories that had not yet been back up. You see the enemy stole something that could not be replaced.
have you ever wondered what it is that enemy steals? I mean really we know that Satan is a thief but what is it that he steals. What does he need so badly that he would steal it from us?
How many of you like video games, how many of you have played this week?
How many of you have a favorite show you like to watch? How many of you hav3e watched tv this week.
How man of you play a sport? How many of you have had practice or a game this week?
All of those things are fine in their rightful place.
But let me ask another question?
How many of you have prayed for God’s kingdom to march forward in you this week? How many of us have prayed for your church to be successful in its mission this week?
You see what the enemy steals from us is our time. What he needs from us is a mind that is distracted so that our time is used up so that we forget about God in our everyday life. We often think that the emeis greatest goal is to get us to sin. It’s not our ownflesh will handle that. His biggest goal is to steal your time and focus, so that you forget about God today.
Here is the crazy part...now some of you are wondering when I am going to give you back your stuff? Well right at the beginning I told you that I was a thief....I said imagine that I am theif. I also told you that I would tell you what you won at the end of the game, but I didn’t tell you what it was.
So you all knowing what I said, gave me your stuff without knowing what you would get in return....
So what did you win....missing stuff and you won nothing but you eagerly gave it to me.
What do you win if you finish your favorite tv series?
What about video game?
what about your soccer game?
The enemy can give us nothing but yet we hand him everything through a distracted mind.
But Jesus is different. He says give me everything and I will give you even more.
10 A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.
He promises abundant life.
A life of purpose and meaning, A life that through hardship and war will produce love, joy and peace. So who should you be willingly giving your time?
