I. John’s Humility in His Identity (vv. 19–21)

A. John did not claim greatness
B. He wanted the attention to be on Jesus
C. Our task is not to make ourselves known, but to make Christ known

II. John’s Mission as a Voice (vv. 22–23)

A. John claims to be the voice from Isaiah 40:3
B. A voice making clear the King is coming
C. Believers are to be a voice making clear the identity of Jesus

III. John’s Baptism as a Witness (vv. 24–28)

A. John’s baptism was a symbol of repentance
B. John’s baptism pointed to Christ
C. Baptism is still a symbol that points to Jesus

Clarity - Knowing who we are in Christ
