The Alarm Clock
In this section an alarm clock has gone off
to wake the believers
Who have gone asleep in the world
And have forgotten to whom they belong
Turn with me to Romans 13:11-14

I. Let Us Wake Up Verses. 11-12a

Are you using your time
and what you possess for the Lord
Ephesians 5:16 ESV
16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:14 NASB95
14 For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:6 NASB95
6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.
Wake up! Be watchful! Repent! Remember the Word you have received and obey it!” This is the formula for revival.
Warren W. Wiersbe
If we are really looking for the return of Christ
Our very lives will reflect it
The man that lays out of Church
is a liar and is deceiving himself
Hebrews 10:25 NASB95
25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

II. Let Us Cast Off Verse 12b

1 Corinthians 10:4–5 NASB95
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness.
Ephesians 5:11 NASB95
11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;
1688 It is not sufficient for a Christian to walk in the light of his conscience; he must walk in a sterner light, in the light of the Lord.
Oswald Chambers (Lecturer and Missionary)
2 Corinthians 6:7 NASB95
7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,
Ephesians 6:11–13 NASB95
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 NASB95
8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.

III. Let Us Walk Properly Verse 13

Romans 13:13 ESV
13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.
If I walk with the world, I can’t walk with God.
Dwight Lyman Moody (Evangelist)
James 5:8 ESV
8 You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
Ephesians 5:15 NASB95
15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,
In other words let us walk honorably as those in the day
not in fighting and drunkeness
Not in sexual immorality and sexual freedom

from Latin promiscuus ‘indiscriminate’

Sensuality

lack of self-constraint which involves one in conduct that violates all bounds of what is socially acceptable, self-abandonment.

Not in strife and Jealousy
James 3:16 KJV 1900
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
You hear about the night life but the Christian
should be associated with the Day life

IV. Let Us Dress Correctly Verse 14

How many believers are making provisions for the flesh
and no provisions to go into His presence.
We must put Christ first in our lives
1 Corinthians 6:15–17 NASB95
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be! 16 Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “The two shall become one flesh.” 17 But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Galatians 3:27 NASB95
27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Colossians 3:12 NASB95
12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
