Obedient Generosity
The Lord Jesus requires us to give as Matthew 6.2 says, “When you give, not if you give.”
ANOTHER POINT IN OBEDIENT GENEROSITY...
The Lord Jesus wants us to give for the right reasons.
Jesus warned His disciples not to give for the sake of being admired by men:
1 “Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.
When we give:
We must be careful to examine our motives.
We ought to give for the glory of God and the good of His people.
We must desire His approval of our giving rather than the admiration of people.
The question with Obedience is...
Are you giving for God’s praise or man’s?

LESSON
IT’S FALL Y’ALL: Living in the Kingdom Today
Words are LIFE or DEATH.
Words can be devastatingly devilish OR they can be heavenly good and helpful.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
16 Your words were found, and I ate them,
And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;
For I am called by Your name,
O Lord God of hosts.
Words reveal which Kingdom you are promoting
Two Kingdoms
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
Kingdom of Light, Goodness or
Kingdom of Darkness, Evil
Two Kingdoms Two Fruits
16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
We have GREAT CAPACITY to bring Kingdom Living to the World—Good or Evil.
You can live God filled Lives everyday
21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
God has planted the Word in You
Jesus is that Word
Thus, we have the ability to live right, do right, and to mature as precious Wheat Plants even among the Tares in the World.
With Greater Capacity we also need greater spiritual discernment to know how to Live as God’s precious, the Wheat that is maturing among the Tares that try to pollute us, in this Kingdom of God.
We are constantly pouring out God’s Fruit...with Discernment we will know when to show mercy, when to go hard, and how to love those trapped in sin.
22 Go easy on those who hesitate in the faith. 23 Go after those who take the wrong way. Be tender with sinners, but not soft on sin. The sin itself stinks to high heaven.
KINGDOM LIVING IS MORE THAN STUFF
17 For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
There is an inner working of the Kingdom that we answer to.
Growing the KINGDOM doesn’t just rely upon me and you. If it did we would fail miserably I think.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
God is who we glory, not in our own strength
Mark made this analogy...
26 Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. 28 The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens. 29 And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come.”
We know that seeds will grow, but do we really know How a seed is programmed and how it produces different fruits and vegetables?
We would think today that if we want a bigger tree we should get a bigger seed — cause Bigger is Better!
Mark says, even smaller produces big things...
30 Jesus said, “How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it? 31 It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds, 32 but it becomes the largest of all garden plants; it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.”
Luke gives one more analogy/parable.—Yeast..
20 He also asked, “What else is the Kingdom of God like? 21 It is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”
When we speak words, they are like seeds and they have the ability to create Life or Death.
A Seed is a power to be released and to organize our reality.
The Word of God- Logos- will Grow when it is sown.
Jesus is referred to as “the Seed of Abraham”
Jesus came in the fullness of time when the ground was just right.
THREE THINGS TO REMEMBER
There is an inner working of the Kingdom
Jesus, the Seed of Abraham, has been planted for us and in us.
“Nails couldn’t keep you down, the grave couldn’t keep you in, Hell couldn’t keep you out, You Reign, You Reign...” song Higher by Worth Dying For
We speak the Word throughout our day cause there is nothing else that shape and organize our lives like Jesus
