The Dividing of the Nations
What was God’s plan and instructions to Noah when he came off the Ark?
Genesis 9:1 “And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.”
The Tower of Babble
Genesis 11:1–4 “And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.”
God confounds the language and Divides the Nations.
Genesis 11:5–9 “And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.”
1. The whole earth was of one language.
The descendants of Noah, were united by the strong bond of a common language, they did not separated, nor did they replenish the earth as God commanded.
God appoints the Sons of God over the Nations
Deuteronomy 32:8–9 8 When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. 9 But the LORD’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage.
Genesis 10:25 “And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.”
So who are these gods who are ruling over the nations
They are God’s Divine Council Ref:
Psalm 82:1 “God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; He judgeth among the gods.”
Job 1:6 “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.”
Psalm 82:1–7 “God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; He judgeth among the gods. How long will ye judge unjustly, And accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. Defend the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy: Rid them out of the hand of the wicked. They know not, neither will they understand; They walk on in darkness: All the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, Ye are gods; And all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.”
So when did their rule begin and end?
Deut. 32:8-9 When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. 9 But the LORD’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage.
These gods did not rule justly but became corrupt accepting worship themselves and led men into idolatry
Their Rule was limited
Psalm 82:7 “But ye shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.”

Philippians 2:9–11 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
1 Peter 5:11 “To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
