Proverbs 6:1–5 NKJV

1 My son, if you become surety for your friend, If you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger, 2 You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth. 3 So do this, my son, and deliver yourself; For you have come into the hand of your friend: Go and humble yourself; Plead with your friend. 4 Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids. 5 Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, And like a bird from the hand of the fowler.

1. Do not be Fast to Vouch for Someone in and Commit Yourself to Something you don’t Understand the Consequences (vv. 1–2)

Proverbs 6:1–2 NKJV

1 My son, if you become surety for your friend, If you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger, 2 You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth.

Solomon warns against becoming surety (putting up security) for another person’s debts or obligations.

 Be cautious with promises, deadlines, or taking on tasks beyond your capacity. Faithfulness means being reliable with what you say "yes" to.

2. Own up to Your Decisions Quickly (v. 3)

Proverbs 6:3 NKJV

3 So do this, my son, and deliver yourself; For you have come into the hand of your friend: Go and humble yourself; Plead with your friend.

Integrity: admitting mistakes early and seeking solutions before they grow worse.

 True faithfulness is not pretending everything is fine, but quickly addressing errors or over-commitments.

3. Don’t Delay Action (vv. 4–5)

Proverbs 6:4–5 NKJV

4 Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids. 5 Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, And like a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Don’t rest until the matter is resolved.

This points to diligence and proactive action instead of procrastination.

 Not pushing problems aside for others to fix.

1. No te Apresures en Responder por Alguien ni en Comprometerte sin Entender las Consecuencias (vv. 1–2)

*Salomón advierte contra salir fiador (poner seguridad) por las deudas u obligaciones de otra persona. *Sé cuidadoso con promesas, plazos o tareas que están fuera de tu capacidad. La fidelidad significa ser confiable con aquello a lo que dices “sí”.

2. Hazte Responsable de tus Decisiones Rápidamente (v. 3)

Proverbios 6:3 NBLA 3 Haz esto ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate, ya que has caído en manos de tu prójimo: ve, humíllate e insiste con tu prójimo.

*Integridad: reconocer errores pronto y buscar soluciones antes de que empeoren. *La verdadera fidelidad no es pretender que todo está bien, sino atender los errores o compromisos excesivos con prontitud.

3. No Retrases la Acción (vv. 4–5)

Proverbios 6:4–5 NBLA 4 No des sueño a tus ojos, ni adormecimiento a tus párpados; 5 líbrate como la gacela de la mano del cazador, y como el ave de la mano del que caza.

*No descanses hasta que el asunto esté resuelto. *Esto apunta a la diligencia y a la acción proactiva en vez de la procrastinación. *No dejar problemas para que otros los resuelvan.
