Bible Passage: Galatians 5:25–26, Galatians 6:1-5

Big Idea: We are called to follow Jesus and care for others, without comparing ourselves to one another.

1. Focus on Jesus, not others

Galatians 5:25–26
Identity in Christ not Others
Focus on your daily relationship with Jesus
Friendships will become closer if it is Built on Christ
What are some ways that we can focus on our daily relationship with Jesus?
How can you build your friendships on Christ and why do you think that is important?

2. Serve with Humility, not with Pride

Galatians 6:1–3
Comparison diminishes when burdens are shared
Be careful of pride, which will lead to comparison
Friendships are only as strong as the effort you put into the other person. So serve them.
How can we model Jesus and serve our friends?
When we are putting effort into the relationship, and serving the other person with humility, how does that strengthen the relationship?

3. Test your own work, not others

Galatians 6:4–5
There is a huge difference in judging others work compared to looking into yourself and judging your own work
Our walk with Jesus may have struggle, or we may feel we are better than others based on their works, but when we start focusing on others work we lose sight of our own and that causes issues
Comparison diminishes when we find joy in following Christ and not comparing your journey to someone else
When we compare ourselves to others it automatically darkens our mood, causing us to slacken in our work and make it harder to focus on what our “load” is. How can we combat this? Specifically, what are some practical steps we can take to focus on our own work while at the same time serving and helping our friends without comparing to them?
