Intro: How many of us like being told that we are wrong?

How many of us like criticism? You see, I have often struggled with criticism.

I don’t like it… oftentimes I don’t want it…

And I’m sure in this room, I can say MANY of us naturally feel the same way

So what’s our first defense against criticism?

Deflection, Denial, and Dismissal…

We come up with excuses and try to brush off the criticism

Well, I wanna read you a passage that talks about criticism…

And then I’m gonna ask you what you think it means

Proverbs 27:6 ESV

6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.

If someone loves you, they will tell you the truth…

So the question has to be asked what is the truth?

how many of us have heard these phrases …

But Paul “I Am Enough”

But Paul “all people are basically good”

But Paul “I am not as bad as the people around me”

“i grew up in the church i was raised the right way and I do the right things im good”

the truth is…

Romans 3:10 ESV

10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;

Romans 3:23 ESV

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

According to the Bible, we all have SINNED

Which means if we’re aiming for a target we all have missed Mark

And that’s the truth and Must understand the truth in order to understand they’re good news

Ephesians 2:4–5 ESV

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—

In order to understand his love, we need to understand our condition and our need

Romans 10:9 ESV

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
