Intro

Nehemiah 9:11 KJV 1900
11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.
Part 4 - Our Worthy God - the God of Deliverance
Yet the reason why He is the God of deliverance is because he is:
Now: Part 5 - The God of Power
God divided the sea, but how?
By His Power...
God threw their persecutors into the deeps as a stone into the mighty waters, but how?
By His Power...
The “great deliverances” don’t take place without the power of God...
Reminder: This is a prayer after spiritual revival praising God for His attributes toward us
The testimony of God’s power reverberates throughout human history as God has shown His mighty hand time after time...
We should be praising God for His power:
Psalm 21:13 KJV 1900
13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: So will we sing and praise thy power.
Psalm 59:16 KJV 1900
16 But I will sing of thy power; Yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: For thou hast been my defence And refuge in the day of my trouble.
The first song-service in scripture recorded was a song proclaiming the power of God!
Exodus 15:1-21 (READ)
Hymns about the power of God that we sing:
There is Power in the Blood (50)
The Blood will never Lose it’s Power (52)
All Hail the Power (531)
I Sing the Mighty Power of God (222)
I want to show you the essential nature of knowing about the power of God:
1 Corinthians 2:1–5 KJV 1900
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Preaching should be done through the power of God
Then our lives should be lived by faith in the power of God
2 Corinthians 6:4–7 KJV 1900
4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; 6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, 7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
So how do we get God’s Power in our lives?
2 Corinthians 12:7–10 KJV 1900
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Glory in infirmities… be faithful during the hard times as well as the easy times...
The problem in some churches:
2 Timothy 3:5 KJV 1900
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Jesus told us it was a major error to be ignorant of God’s power:
Matthew 22:29 KJV 1900
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

1. He made the earth by His power

Jeremiah 51:15 KJV 1900
15 He hath made the earth by his power, He hath established the world by his wisdom, And hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.
Jeremiah 32:17 KJV 1900
17 Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:
There is power when God speaks
Genesis 1:3 KJV 1900
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Genesis 1:6 KJV 1900
6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
Luke 4:32 KJV 1900
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
Luke 4:36 KJV 1900
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
When people want to say the world was created by a big-bang or evolution, we should be quick to proclaim the power of God in creation!

2. He ruleth by His Power

Psalm 66:6–7 KJV 1900
6 He turned the sea into dry land: They went through the flood on foot: There did we rejoice in him. 7 He ruleth by his power for ever; His eyes behold the nations: Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.

3. His power was part of the birth of Christ

Luke 1:35 KJV 1900
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

4. The resurrection is accomplished by His power

2 Corinthians 13:4 KJV 1900
4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
1 Corinthians 6:14 KJV 1900
14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

5. His Word changes us because of His power

Hebrews 4:12 KJV 1900
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

6. He controls all situations by His power

John 10:18 KJV 1900
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

7. The demons fear His Power

James 2:19 KJV 1900
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Luke 4:33–36 KJV 1900
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, 34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. 35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. 36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
In Revelation 20 - God sends ONE angel to lay hold on satan and to bind him for 1,000 years with a chain and cast him into the bottomless pit… ONE ANGEL!
Conclusion:
What is it that you are struggling to believe God can do?
Turn a wayward child?
Transform your life?
Grow your ministry?
