This Sunday, Pastor is preaching from John 5:39–47. Jesus opens up this section with haunting words: You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me (Jn. 5:39 ESV). In the words that follow, Jesus indicts the Jews for failing to hear the testimony of Scriptures about him. At the same time, our Lord teaches us several important truths about both the Old Testament and our whole Bible.
