Intro
A couple of Wednesdays ago, we used the story of Nehemiah to illustrate how a setback can make us feel like giving up or quitting. For those who attend our really good Wednesday services, you will remember that the Israelites began rebuilding the wall and built it to about half way but then something happened. They got tired and wanted to quit.
I’m not going to rehash the whole story but it also illustrates our faith walk somewhat.
Illustrate this with relationships…
When we first come to faith in Christ we have a lot of passion and excitement. But that will only take you so far. Excitement was never meant to take us throughout our lives. You have to grow and learn about God and how he wants us to think, speak and live.
As we grow, our faith becomes so much richer and deeper and we would not trade it for anything in the world. But the process involves work.
It’s not uncommon for the excitement of our first love devotion to the Lord to dim and cool off and not be fresh anymore. Here are three scenarios that happen in people’s faith walk.
1. People settle into a one sided, “Do it all for God” mindset.
1. People settle into a one sided, “Do it all for God” mindset.
Jesus saved me and now I will work hard the rest of my life to prove I was worthy to be saved. It’s not necessarily a conscious thought, but your faith walk becomes a check list… a morality check list… a to do check list for God. I stay really busy checking off the boxes… QT, Volunteering for everything… This will inevitably lead to burnout.
2. People settle into complacency.
2. People settle into complacency.
"I'm saved and I want enough Jesus to know that I'm going to be saved and heaven is my future, but I don't want so much Jesus that I have to change my lifestyle or cramp my preferences and desires."
These people are totally unprepared for difficult times because there is no foundation. And we will all go through difficult times.
3. People tend just to walk away.
3. People tend just to walk away.
The seduction of the world with all the opportunities (kids activities, grand kid activities, Saints) just lure people into walking away… maybe from church attendance first then from their faith. It makes it hard to follow Jesus in this world.
It doesn’t have to be that way however. There is so much more to walking with Christ.
Jesus said in John 10:10
10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Jesus didn’t come to our world, live like us, die a painful sacrificial death for us to grin and bear it. He never meant for us to pull up our bootstraps… to suck it up buttercup and show up in church every few weeks and hope that we can last to the end.
Jesus came to give us a rich and satisfying life, but make no mistake, there will be difficulties and even suffering in our lives. Jesus didn’t escape it and neither will we. Jesus came to reunite us and give us a deeper relationship with God. He came to give us a sustaining, rich and intimate relationship with God… not a grin and bear it relationship. It’s a great adventure.
Write this down.
The key to life with God is the Holy Spirit.
The key to life with God is the Holy Spirit.
The key to living the abundant life, the rich and satisfying life is the Holy Spirit. The Abundant life Jesus speaks of comes out from inside us. The Abundant life is an internal life and the key to unlock it is the Holy Spirit.
Maybe you have been going through difficult times. Maybe you have been fighting health issues … maybe for a long time. Too often during these times, we live by grit and determination and on the outside you looked good but you lacked inner peace. Maybe you found yourself doing what felt like laps in the desert with a dry relationship with God.
Most likely you would repent and try to press in. And during these times God will lead you to people, maybe messages and books that will help… because He is a loving God who cares deeply for you. Maybe you even feel like you have missed out on what Jesus came to give you.
God is like a Guidance System on your phone… when you make a wrong turn, He redirects you.
I hope that today will be one of many awakening moments where you realize that He has been there all along. When you put these together they will lead to life change. We get so busy, and so busy for God that we miss out on some really beautiful things Jesus promises.
38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ ” 39 (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)
Underline from his heart.
True life begins in our hearts (inside) with the Holy Spirit. It’s not about material wealth, or health or success, or accolades, or accomplishments, or bank accounts, or being popular, or even changing the world.
The rich and satisfying life Jesus came to give us begins on the inside and it’s an overflowing internal reality. Then you naturally prioritize a life with God over a life for God.
You become more lIke Mary instead of her sister Martha.
God desires to live in you, with you, to teach you, to empower your and the Holy Spirit is the person to empower your faith. You can’t do it on your own.
20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
We allow Jesus to live in us in the person of the Holy Spirit. We were never meant to live the Christian life on our own. Paul is saying here that when Jesus was crucified on the cross, our old selves were crucified with Christ. What does that mean.
Legally, God looks at us as if we died with Jesus because our sins died with him.
Relationally, we have become one with Christ and identified ourselves with Him.
In our daily life, we regularly must crucify our sinful desires that keep us from following Jesus.
But Paul changes the focus onto living… not dying. Because we were crucified with Jesus, we have been raised to live with Him.
Legally we have been reconciled with God. (2 CO 5:19) and are free to grow more and more like Jesus. (Rom 8:29)
Relationally, we are no longer alone because Christ lives in us. (Col 1:27)
In our daily life, We have Christ’s resurrection power, the Holy Spirit, to fight sin.
How does the Holy Spirit do this? We could talk all day on how he does this. But we will look at four roles that are in John 13-17.
These chapters are the last alone time the disciples have with Jesus before his crucifixion. He is telling them what is about to happen. They share a meal where he reveals he will be betrayed. Then he washed their feet, which was backwards in their culture because he was the leader. He says that he will die and leave them but will come back for them. I am sure there was a sense of what is going on?
The disciples are discouraged and afraid. They don’t understand what is happening. They have given up everything to follow Jesus and they are not ready for that to be over. So Jesus in his kindness responds to them.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate (comforter, counselor, encourager), who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.
He lives with you now but will later be IN you. Write this down.
1. God’s gift of the Holy Spirit is to connect me to God’s presence.
1. God’s gift of the Holy Spirit is to connect me to God’s presence.
Until this point, Jesus had been their advocate, their teacher, their counselor. He had been the presence of God with them, even though they were not fully aware of it when he was making God known to them.
But here he is saying, I am leaving, but don’t worry I’m going to stay with you forever through my Spirit. Up to this point, Jesus was with them but the Holy Spirit would be in them forever. The HS was here to stay.
He told them that He would live in them. That’s a new concept for any Jew following Jesus. In the OT, he would visit in temples, upon people to perform certain tasks, etc. But He didn’t stay because there had not been a repair in the broken relationship between man and God.
So their mindset was that God comes and visits; but now Jesus is saying he is coming to live in them forever. Jesus knew these disciples could not do what he called them to do and what he called millions more through out time to do on our own. We need the presence and power of the HS to lay everything aside and follow Jesus.
This was mind blowing for these disciples. He also tells them that he will not abandon them as orphans. Jesus knew that these disciples would sacrifice everything to follow him.
We don't really understand this, because we enjoy the freedom to choose what we want to believe, but that is not the case for the majority of believers around the world. For so many it costs family, and status, and safety, and tradition to follow Christ. And Jesus knows that. He knows the cost for his disciples, and he knows the cost that's coming for the rest of the world. And he says, "I'm going to adopt you by my Spirit into my family. And you're going to be a part of a family that never breaks up. Never breaks up. Check this out…
20 Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).
These are the last words Matthew recorded of Jesus, and they bring us great comfort. He will be with us all the days of our lives…
This teaches us that God has no desire to save us and say, now good luck. He has no desire for you to navigate this life on your own. Jesus’s desire is to be with us and help us navigate this life with him. You don’t have to feel alone any longer.
The presence of God in your life is real even though you may not feel it. You don’t feel blood pumping through your veins but it is. You don’t feel your bone marrow producing blood either, but it is. You may not feel the brain snaypeses firing to make your muscles move but they are…
God is good and he wants you to feel it… he wants to give you that experience for sure, but know that it's not dependent on whether you feel it in any given moment or not. God's truth of his presence with us is irregardless of whether we feel it or not.
2. God’s gift of the Holy Spirit is to teach me to know God.
2. God’s gift of the Holy Spirit is to teach me to know God.
The Holy Spirit helps me know God.
25 I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. 26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Jesus is saying that the Holy Spirit’s job is to teach us everything about God and lead us towards truth. That’s a huge promise.
This is also another reason the Bible is reliable and accurate. The disciples didn’t have to rely on their memory. The Holy Spirit reminded them about everything Jesus did and taught.
Jesus showed us God. He wasn’t God’s PR guy, He was and is God. But since he was leaving, He was sending his spirit, the Holy Spirit to indwell us … to live inside us.
Why did he do this? When he was on earth, he was limited to a time and place. He couldn’t be in Rome and Jerusalem at the same time. But the HS could because He lives in every believer.
Jesus work is continuing today and the big question is, Are you going to partner with the Holy Spirit and what God wants to do in our world?
We try to do this on our own. We try to create this wonderful world where everyone gets along, but if the truth were know, we get an F. Why? Because you cannot have an abundant life with no moral authority.
Look at our politics, look at our education, look at our families, look at our youth, look at our businesses, there's corruption everywhere. You cannot have an abundant life without a moral authority. It will not work
The good news is that the Holy Spirit has been given to all believers. His Spirit has been given to us to teach us about all things. Who God is like, who we really are, what is going on in the world? What is the purpose to life? What is the story that is being told? And how is it going to end.
1 Corinthians 2:11–12 (NLT)
11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
Basically, it takes God to know God. So, we need to let the Holy Spirit teach us who God really is. So how does he teach us? A lot of ways.
There are many ways that the Holy Spirit is moving and teaching in the world today everything from chance encounters at Starbucks, to newborn babies, to nature, to the way you're dealing with stuff at work. Everything can be an object lesson for the Spirit to teach us in.
There are three primary things that need to be a part of every believer's life. And they are scripture, prayer, and the family of God. Those three ways are primary ways that the Holy Spirit is always teaching us and training us in truth.
Three ways Holy Spirit teaches us about God
Three ways Holy Spirit teaches us about God
Scripture is vital to knowing God.
Scripture is vital to knowing God.
Scripture is so critical and if you are new to Christianity or even if you've been following God for a long time there can be this really natural aversion to like, opening up the Bible. Don’t worry if you don’t understand it at first. None of did. You do need the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given us to help illuminate the truth, to make sense of God's word.
Prayer is vital to knowing God.
Prayer is vital to knowing God.
Our faith walk is like this. We have access to the greatest tutor on life. He knows everything about us. He knows how life works, but too often we are too busy to listen or we haven’t learn how to hear his voice.
This leaves us without the power Jesus sent at Pentecost… the power to live an abundant life. It’s not like us having a conversation. This is the supernatural God speaking to your heart.
Can any of you remember being lost from your mom when you were little, and then you hear a word that sounded like her voice? You moved towards it and then you heard her and knew it was her.
That’s how it is when we learn to hear the voice of the Lord. We know he is loving so we move in that direction. I know that God came to give me peace. So I move towards love and peace. God always brings peace so the closer I get to him the more peace I feel.
God's promise of the Holy Spirit plays a key role in every believer’s life, but most of us miss it. We get saved and the HS lives inside us, but often we miss out on this role of the Sprit… to teach us about the Lord. Don’t be afraid of the Holy Spirit.
The Church is vital to knowing God.
The Church is vital to knowing God.
The Church or the family of God is the Body of Christ. He said He would not leave us alone as orphans… His church becomes our family. We need believers who are further along in their walk with the Lord to help us understand the scripture and guide us as we grow.
You are getting 24/7 teaching, training and lessons from Culture. It comes through your phone all day. So you have to be trained in reading and understanding the Bible so that you know who God is, what He says, what He values, what He loves and what He doesn’t. If not it becomes difficult if not impossible for us to tell the difference between the truth and a lie.
We're in a crisis of spiritual hybridization in the west. A little bit of this like, "I pick this, I pick this, I pick this, I pick this. Don't really like that ethic, I don't really like that belief.
And we build a faith that we like and call that Christianity. We have fooled ourselves into believing that our self-actualized faiths are somehow equal to the path millions have followed and literally lost their lives for. We might even call it following Jesus even though we are following things He never said. We are deceiving ourselves.
There is one way… Jesus. Jesus said I am the way… the truth and the life… If you and I are not clear on God's kind, loving, gentle, but powerful voice we will be so easily swayed by culture. It's just going to happen.
God’s part is to teach us and our part is to become good listeners. Actually, God is holding himself accountable to teach us, and that’s great because when we try to teach ourselves, we come up with all sorts of crazy ideas.
So the HS connects me to Gods presences and teaches me how to know God…
3. God’s gift of the Holy Spirit is to help me to walk out my faith with God.
3. God’s gift of the Holy Spirit is to help me to walk out my faith with God.
Finish some phrases for me.
God helps those … who help themselves…
If it’s to be? It’s up to me…
If it’s up to me, at the end of the day, the only person I can depend on is… me.
That’s our culture’s wisdom. The world says that if you are going to make it happen, it’s up to you. You have to go through this life on your own. No one is gong to help.
But that’s simply not true, God says, you do have help… I will give you a helper and that’s why he gave us the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is your Helper.
The Holy Spirit is your Helper.
7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
Jesus is saying that it’s actually better if he leaves because He is sending His Holy Spirit. I am sure they thought, what could possibly be better than you being here. It didn’t make sense.
The word translated helper is rich and has many meanings in the original language.
7 However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
God wants you to live a victorious life and that's why he sent the helper who is your comforter, and he is your counselor, and he is your advocate, and he is your intercessor. He's all these things to help you in this life so you don't have to do it on your own. Paul talks about following Jesus like a race where we race to win a crown… a spiritual crown.
God wants you win that crown and that’s why you have a Helper. The Holy Spirit Helps you.
The Holy Spirit is your Comforter.
The Holy Spirit is your Comforter.
When you are grieving… heartbroken… wounded or scared, He will comfort you. When you feel lonely, He will comfort you.
We don’t have to feel lonely because the HS lives in us and never leaves us.
13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Overflow - You can overflow with the confident hope through the HS. When you feel like there is no hope in your circumstances, He gives you hope … he gives you peace in the storm. He gives you joy.
The Holy Spirit is also your intercessor.
The Holy Spirit is also your intercessor.
It means that He intervenes on your behalf. Have you ever gotten to the point where you have prayed and prayed and don’t know what else to pray? God says, I have given you my Spirit to help you pray.
26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
This word groanings has a very interesting meaning, because it means a deep grief, a deep longing and it's the same word that's used for the intensity of childbirth and the pressure of childbirth. Now, every mother here knows, that's given birth how intense that is.
When you're crying out to God, when you're pouring your heart out to him the Holy Spirit is praying with that kind of intensity. Maybe you have wondered, "Are my prayers even getting past the ceiling?"
And this verse proves that God is hearing your prayers and that when you don't know what to pray the Holy Spirit is praying. And so, when you're crying out he's crying out to the Father for you. When you run out of words, he's groaning with words that are too deep for anyone to understand, but the father understands them for you.
He is the ultimate prayer warrior on your behalf. All you got to do is say, "Holy Spirit, I don't know what to pray anymore." When you pray to the father. He's already doing it. He's already there doing it for you. So, when you get to the end of your rope in prayer he takes over. He's praying before the father.
The Holy Spirit is your healer.
The Holy Spirit is your healer.
The Bible gives us many names for God throughout the bible. One of those is Jehovah Rapha, God who heals.
26 He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.”
The Holy Spirit is God and he wants to do his healing work in your life, and he does it on multiple, multiple levels.
He heals you spiritually, he heals you emotionally, and he can heal you physically. He does on all three. And sometimes this healing is immediate. It happens right away. And sometimes he heals progressively over time, but throughout the Bible you see God healing his people.
When Jesus was here on this earth one third of his ministry was a healing ministry. Here are a few verses on healing… there are many.
3 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.
This promise is for every believer. He wants to heal every hurt or wound… physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
God heals through miracles and through doctors. Sometimes it’s immediate and sometimes it takes a while.
Healing is not contingent, hear me on this, it is not contingent upon the quality of one's faith, but upon the healer. It's up to God.
And God determines when and how he does it. Our job is just to believe. It's to believe in faith that he can do it. If he wants to do it this side of heaven, to heal us. So, at the end of our service today I'm going to lead you in a healing prayer. We're going to pray for emotional healing for you and we're going to pray for physical healing for you.
4. God’s gift of the Holy Spirit is to convict me of my need for God.
4. God’s gift of the Holy Spirit is to convict me of my need for God.
Look what Jesus said...
8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. 9 The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me. 10 Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. 11 Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged.
So, you're coming out of CVS and you're with your five-year-old, and you get into the car and you notice that your five year old has stuck a pack of gum in their pocket that you didn't pay for. Does this happen to anybody?
So, you notice that and all of the sudden you realize before you freak out, "Oh my goodness, they have just bold faith shoplifted." And so, what do you do as a loving parent? Well, as a loving parent you correct them. You say to them, "You know what? We don't take things that don't belong to us. We pay for things and we don't take things, we don't steal." And you lovingly correct them.
And if you're courageous enough you'll walk the child back in with the gum, to CVS, and you'll put the gum on the counter and apologize to the employee, and then you will pay for the gum and then you'll walk out with your child.
And you will lovingly care for them and wipe away the tears on their eyes, and tell them, "It's going to be okay." And that, "everybody makes mistakes." And that, "We can do better next time and this is just part of the learning process, and they're going to be okay."
You do that as a parent because you love them and want to guide them in the right direction. Then you go home and then you Google, "Signs your five-year-old is heading for a life of crime." Just because you want to make sure you're doing an okay job as a parent.
The Holy Spirit is active and personal presence of God in this world. He is given to the world to convict the world of sin, to point us in the right direction, to lead us in the right way, to show us our need for Jesus and to woo us to Jesus.
And he is so kind, hear me on this. He is so kind, he is so gentle in his conviction, because of how much he loves you and it is his desire that no one should be lost, and he will go way out of his way, way out of his way to make sure you know how loved you are and your need for him.
A guy was in Starbucks just a while back and he was in line to get some coffee and he noticed a man behind him, and they caught each other’s eye. And as soon as I caught his eye the Lord told me in my heart, "You need to talk to him." And I said, "No. That's weird. I'm in Starbucks. That's not you God." But he did it to me again like, "No, you need to talk to him."
So, he just goes, I'm kind of, ignoring this, I order my coffee, this guy orders his coffee and as we are standing in line waiting for our coffee, he gets his coffee first, which is weird because I ordered first. And his hand starts shaking as he gets it and he spills coffee all over me.
And he’s like, "We could have avoided this one for sure. If I just would have said yes." And so, I helped him clean up the mess and he looks at me and he says, "Hey, could you come talk to me? Could you come sit down and talk to me?" He was like, "Whoa. I almost blew this. That was really God."
And so, I sat down and his name is John. John looks at him -- he doesn't even tell him his name. The first thing out of his mouth is he looks at me and he says, "I don't know why I'm here." Now, first he thought, "He doesn't know why he's at Starbucks? What's he talking about?"
He goes, " I don't know why I'm here. When I was 17 years old, I got into a really bad car accident, I was disabled. Because of my injuries I've died three times and I've been brought back to life. And I'm 40 years old and I don't know why I'm here on this earth. Can you help me? Can you tell me? When I saw you in line, when I caught your eye..." This is him, "When I caught your eye something inside of me said you need to talk to that guy."
Now, listen, that is the conviction of the Holy Spirit. The conviction of the Holy Spirit is pointing a heart to his way home, to heaven. He does that in people's hearts helping the world to see their need for their savior. Showing them right from wrong, prompting two strangers in the middle of Starbucks to talk to each other.
He said, "I died and I don't know why I keep getting brought back can you tell me?" I was like, "Yes, you've been brought back because God doesn't want you to die without him. He wants you to know his son Jesus and all you have to do..." He was sitting there going, "Man, this is it. We're on. He's going to receive Jesus here in Starbucks, how is that going to happen?" I'm thinking, "Is he going to bow his head? That's going to be weird." I'm like, "What are you going to do?"
So He just said, "Well, here's how you do it. You ask Jesus, you say Jesus, I need you and so I'm asking you right now to come into my life and to save me." And right on the spot he says out loud, "Jesus, I need you will you come and save me?" Right there. And he looks at me and he goes, "Wow, that worked. I feel different. I can't believe it I feel completely different."
Now, I want you to know when you receive Jesus you don't always feel something right away. I felt something differerent… some do. And he literally was like, "I know why I'm here. I'm here so I could meet Jesus. Thank you. I can't believe that I didn't know, but I do now."
The Holy Spirit continues the work of Jesus on this earth and he empowers believers any way he can. He'll even throw coffee on you to make sure you wake up and talk to the people you're supposed to talk to.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The church couldn't even start without the Holy Spirit and Jesus says, "I want you to receive this power. This power will change everything in your life. It'll affect every area of your life.” It's the power for you to have eternity in heaven. It's the power for his presence to be in your life. It's the power for you to understand truth. It's the power to have a victorious living. That you're not doing it all on your own and it's the power for you to be witnesses for me everywhere you go. No matter where it's at.
What would it look like if you prioritized your life to be with God? You stay connected to his presence, you allow him to teach you and to guide you, and you trusted him to help you in every circumstance of your life, how would that change things for you?
If you know Jesus, you already have all of the Holy Spirit. The question is, does he have all of you? The key to life with God is the Holy Spirit. He will change everything for you. A promise, because of God's word. Would you pray with me?
Prayer time
Salvation Prayer - Dear Jesus, I need you. I'm asking you right now to come into my life and to save me. Jesus, I don't even know all what that means, but I'm trusting you that you're going to save me. And I want to start a relationship with you today. And to the best of my ability I will follow you all the days of my life.
Now, I'm going to ask those of you who would like prayer for emotional healing and physical healing to do something that's going to feel a little risky, but I want to be able to pray for you and pray over you, and I want to see you.
And so, would you be willing to raise your hand if you would like prayer for emotional healing or physical healing? Would you raise your hand?
If you are sitting next to somebody who is raising their hand would you just lovingly put your hand on their shoulder? Would you just raise your hand in support and put your hand towards them so everybody's raising their hand?
We're going to pray first for those who need emotional healing. Heavenly father, you saw the hands that went up for those who need an emotional healing in their life. You saw their step of faith Lord. I pray and ask in Jesus name that you would honor that, because you said it is by faith that you are healed and you see this faith. It's not about the faith of a mustard seed, the smallest amount of faith Lord. And so, you saw the hands that went up for emotional healing.
Lord, I pray for them. And many of them need breakthroughs. Lord, would you heal those wounds in their life that have just kept them captive. It's been dark clouds over their mind and over their heart for years. Lord, would you break through the darkness with your light.
Father, for those thoughts that keep haunting them in the middle of the night or throughout the day, or for those places where they feel like they're so broken and they're never going to be mended again Holy Spirit, would you heal them? Would you mend their hearts and those broken places?
Lord, help them to trust in you and know that you love them and that you are that comforter, and you are that healer. Lord, for those areas that they struggle with addiction would you break those chains of addiction in them? Lord, would you accelerate their healing. For those places that maybe, they're dealing with co-dependency or fractures in relationships Lord, would you mend those relationships, reconcile those relationships, heal their marriages? Lord, we ask that you would do that in Jesus name for them.
Father, for those who raised their hands that need a physical healing Lord, you are healer and you said that you would heal us, and so we're asking in Jesus name. Holy Spirit, would you heal each person who raised their hand? Father, give them the grace, more grace and healing that you gave me?
Lord, we thank you. In Jesus name, amen.
