Devotional Title: God Knows it All

The Bible reveals God’s nature and character. Omniscience is one of his divine attributes. His infinite knowledge of things past, present, and future is evidenced in the story of redemption. For God, there are no boundaries of time nor boundaries of knowledge; He is all-knowing, eternal, unchangeable, and sovereign. Nothing is hidden from Him.

In the incarnation, Jesus’s disciples witnessed God’s omniscience. In John 1:43-48, Philip tells Nathanael that the Messiah is here. Nathanael goes to meet Jesus and is surprised that Jesus seems to know who he is, prompting him to ask “how do you know me?” Jesus responds telling Nathanael that before Philip told him about the Messiah, He saw him under the fig tree, revealing God’s omniscient character.

In the story of Nathanael, we see God’s surpassing knowledge revealed. But there are two additional stories that reveal to us that Jesus omniscient attribute is more than knowing a person by name, he knows man’s heart. In Mark 2:8, when Jesus confronts the scribes, we see Him know the questions in the hearts of the scribes without them speaking those questions. Another example is John 6:61 when Jesus knows of the grumbling in the hearts of his disciples. These are some examples that reveal the difference of our limited knowledge and God’s omniscience. God knows the inner heart of man.

David knew of this characteristic very well, in Psalm 139, he calls out to the Lord to search him because he knows him; even before he speaks God already knows it “altogether.”

Throughout the Bible, we see God’s omniscient character in action, revealing to us that nothing is hidden from Him. Our thoughts and the secrets of our hearts are seen by the Lord; they are like a breath to him (Psalm 44:21, Psalm 94:11). Those sinful thoughts that we think may not be known by anyone else are seen by God.

On judgment day these hidden thoughts will be revealed and known. On that day, God will bring to light all unrighteousness of man - those who have not kept their hearts for the Lord. Matthew 10:26 says that there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed. But there is good news! God has given us righteousness because of the atonement work of Jesus Christ. On that day, the Lord will separate his elect. Those who have been born again by faith alone in Christ alone will enter into eternity with him sending those who persists in their unbelief and rejected his grace into an eternal separation from God.

Titulo Devocional: Dios lo Sabe Todo

La Biblia revela la naturaleza y el carácter de Dios. La omnisciencia es uno de sus atributos divinos. Su conocimiento infinito de las cosas pasadas, presentes y futuras se evidencia en la historia de la redención. Para Dios no hay límites de tiempo ni límites de conocimiento; Él es omnisciente, eterno, inmutable y soberano. Nada está oculto de Él.

En la encarnación, los discípulos de Jesús fueron testigos de la omnisciencia de Dios. En Juan 1:43-48, Felipe le dice a Natanael que el Mesías está aquí. Natanael va a encontrarse con Jesús y se sorprende de que Jesús parece saber quién es, lo que lo lleva a preguntar: “¿Cómo es que me conoces?” Jesús responde diciéndole a Natanael que antes de que Felipe le hablara del Mesías, Él lo vio bajo la higuera, revelando así el carácter omnisciente de Dios.

En la historia de Natanael vemos revelado el conocimiento supremo de Dios. Pero hay dos historias adicionales que nos muestran que el atributo omnisciente de Jesús es más que conocer a una persona por su nombre: Él conoce el corazón del hombre. En Marcos 2:8, cuando Jesús confronta a los escribas, vemos que Él conoce las preguntas en los corazones de los escribas sin que ellos las pronuncien. Otro ejemplo se encuentra en Juan 6:61, cuando Jesús conoce la murmuraciones en los corazones de sus discípulos. Estos son algunos ejemplos que revelan la diferencia entre nuestro conocimiento limitado y la omnisciencia de Dios. Dios conoce lo más íntimo del corazón del hombre.

David conocía muy bien esta característica. En el Salmo 139 clama al Señor para que lo escudriñe porque sabe que Él lo conoce; aun antes de hablar, Dios ya lo sabe “todo.”

A lo largo de la Biblia vemos el carácter omnisciente de Dios en acción, revelándonos que nada está oculto de Él. Nuestros pensamientos y los secretos de nuestro corazón son vistos por el Señor; para Él son como un suspiro (Salmo 44:21, Salmo 94:11). Aquellos pensamientos pecaminosos que creemos desconocidos por los demás son vistos por Dios.

En el día del juicio, estos pensamientos ocultos serán revelados y conocidos. En ese día, Dios sacará a la luz toda la injusticia del hombre —aquellos que no guardaron su corazón para el Señor. Mateo 10:26 dice que no hay nada encubierto que no haya de ser revelado. ¡Pero hay buenas noticias! Dios nos ha dado Su justicia por la obra expiatoria de Jesucristo. En aquel día, el Señor separará a Sus escogidos. Los que han nacido de nuevo por la fe solamente en Cristo solamente entrarán a la eternidad con Él, mientras que aquellos que persisten en su incredulidad y rechazan Su gracia serán enviados a una separación eterna de Dios.
