Remodel Week 3 – Make the Plan

Well good morning

We are discussing the need to remodel our hearts through TRANSFORMATION

Galatians 2:20 ESV

20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

It must start with the REALIZATION that we need to CHANGE

The CLARITY is that we need to BECOME like CHRIST

...it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me

there must be a flow of CHRIST through out and out of US

We need to be POURED out to OTHERS —- for that is LOVE —— teaching TRUTH

Getting it right starts with listing the needs and checking the options

Proverbs 19:21 “21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”

Jeremiah 29:11 “11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Matthew 6:33 “33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Proverbs 3:5–6 “5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Proverbs 16:9 “9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”

….Ephesians 5:1 “1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.”

2. The Why

we have visited your Reason, the Why, Your ability, and Your needs

We have clarified the NEED and the REASON,

We have Made an ACCESSMENT OF the condition of our HOUSE

and we understand more deeply the COST of the REMODEL

Time, resources, money, and frankly inconvenience ( DUE TO OUR OLD WAYS)

TIME to make it start to happen

The Plan

The first step in our new section today is the PLAN

You need to have a ROUGH idea, That is what we were doing the last few weeks

In a remodel we use Google images, Pinterest, Websites to gain an IDEA of what we want to do

Now we need to draw it out

We need to be able to express our DESIRES to the ARCHITECT, Engineer and Contractor

We need to be LASER FOCUSED in our WANTS

Hebrews 12:2 “2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

HE has the plans. ———” for i know the plans that i have for you....”

Application

Today we are going to learn…

That getting the REMODEL right starts with a GREAT Plan

Details the steps in doing a house remodel

the meet — Confronted and Woo’d by the Spirit

the dream —- We accept Jesus — the dream of a new LIFE

the rough idea —- We know we want change

the plans —- We need a plan and a DESIRE TO KNOW HIM

The approval —- YOU ARE HIS —-NOW

the finishing and perfecting of the plans —- PRAYER TIME, Reading TIME, STUDY TIME

it will take work and sacrifice

James 1:2–4 “2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

We need to work out the plan and budget

It is wise to manage your time

We learned last week to COUNT THE COST

What does your Budget allow.

We MUST DEAL WITH REALITY or IT DOESN’T work

We need to put on our thinking cap, and use our knee caps

We must pray and ponder

we must wrestle with our reality.

Know this… PLANS change ———— it is not going to go easy

PROGRESS not PERFECTION

We need to enter our planning stage with understanding

our design may not be HIS ULTIMATE DESIGN

GOD wants us to TRUST HIM

We don’t have the plan

Frankly if i did—- I wouldn’t need to TRUST

Its a Want to know, but DON’T Want to KNOW Conundrum

We need to begin with the END IN MIND

We are to REMODEL into the MODEL HOME OF JESUS

We have RESOURCES

Our BIBLES

Counselors

Our Pastor and Elders

Our CHURCH

Podcast teaching/preaching

Articles and Blogs

We have PRAYER

We have the HOLY SPIRIT as our FIELD FOREMAN

I have heard it said…

God is the General CONTRACTOR

He is the BANKER

Jesus is the Superintendent== Authority over all things

Holy Spirit is the FIELD FOREMAN

now that is a team that I want to HIRE

We MUST know that the BIBLE is the Authority

It is the foundation of our plans

the dictator of our DESIGN

it points us to ALL THE RESOURCES that we need

Did you do the work this past week? Did you Define YOUR Project?

Pause a few minutes daily

Did you get your notebook out?

Did you make your list of the NEEDS

Week one we discussed the WHY we need to Remodel

We taught Jeremiah 17:9 about our heart problem

We taught about God desiring the OLD to go and the NEW to become

Week two (last week) we discussed needing to make the List and pray over it

We talked about Psalm 139 – asking God to search our HEART and revealing things to REMODEL

Today we start to make a PLAN

8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Our blindness to SIN that we enjoy —- BLINDS Us and HIDES US

it is like a little kid playing HIDE AND SEEK —- and talking the whole TIME, or thinking it is concealed and THEY ARE NOT

OR we could start to fix it.

Satan has used the tools of DECEPTION, PROCRASTATION, JUSTIFICATION, and CULTURE to BLIND man for Centuries

BUT

John 9:25 ESV

...One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”

Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

II. IT IS A ROOM THAT NEEDS A GOOD CARPENTER. Phil 1:6

A) Jesus saves, the Holy Spirit fills, and the Father will call us home.

B) The carpenter will only be as thorough as we allow him to be.

1) Just as if I were doing carpentry work for you. I would not tear out a wall and remodel a room if you had asked me to simply install a new door.

What kind of work are we asking God to do in our life?

2) Ancient Chinese proverb: “If we do not change our direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed.”

Change generally doesn’t come in three hours.

It can.

But generally it doesn’t.

Change usually is the product of a life-long commitment.

This is what PHIL 1:6 encourages us.

PROGRESS not PERFECTION

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

III. IT IS A ROOM THAT IS NOT FINISHED IN THIS LIFE. Phil 3:14

A) The teams on HGTV can remodel an entire house in 30 minutes and never get dirty..

but in real life it is not that easy.

B) Our entire life we press toward the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ.

That mark is perfection.

One day we will reach it.

But every day we are to strive for it.

To press means to run with greatest effort…

.this is not for salvation…

this is what God has called us to strive toward

—-Then one day we will be called out.

Prayer:

today we learned that Getting the Remodel right starts with a good Plan

Our Plan must be based SOLOLY on God’s example through Jesus

We need to have that SEARCH me time with CHRIST

That growth comes SLOW and SOLID – we must endure and persevere

We need to pray and see the REAL issue so we can SEE the REAL SOLUTION

That Jesus loves our PROGRESS and NOT our PERFECTION

Father we want to FOLLOW your PLAN —- We submit our Life to you

We know that we are NOT to build up treasures here on Earth but RATHER with you in Heaven

JEWELS or JUDGEMENT?

We need is to MODEL JESUS

So we proceed with the REMODEL with FOCUS on YOU.
