Why should we care about the Gospel?
Because it is the only place God’s power to save us is found.

The Eagerness to Share (v. 13-15)

Romans 1:13 KJV 1900
13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
He wants to earnestly see them but has been providentially hindered. (v. 13a)
He desires this so that he can win more Gentile converts. (v.13b)
He also knows that there will be those that keep the Gospel for themselves. They will not be inclined to share it with everyone, or they will be like the man who asked Jesus “who is my neighbor”?
Romans 1:14 KJV 1900
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
Debtor—What does Paul mean he is “under obligation” to these groups? He has been given a divine mandate to preach the Good News of King Jesus to all men.
It would seem to be to emphasize that, when the Gospel goes to all peoples, it is all. Jews and Gentiles, and not just the educated upper-class dignified Gentiles.
Romans 1:15 KJV 1900
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
His commission was a general one, confined to no one nation, and to no particular class. Greeks and barbarians, mean all nations; wise and unwise, mean all classes.
APP: Notice how eager the Apostle was to preach the Gospel. How much he desired to share it with people he never met.
You are not St. Paul. You are not on a mission field, and you probably do not have the gifts the apostle had.
That does not mean we should not have the same eagerness to share the Gospel. The same desire, the same drive.
Do not think that this will require us to share the Gospel in the same way. If God wanted each of us to share the Gospel in the same way, he would have give us the same gifts. He hasn't.
1 Corinthians 12:4 KJV 1900
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
We have mentioned spiritual gifts before. Do not pigeon hole yourself. Be open to the ways and avenues of sharing the gospel.
But it is entirely possible that we do not have an eagerness to share the Gospel because we do not understand it.
We do not see exactly what it is doing for us.

The Righteousness of God (v. 16-17)

Romans 1:16 KJV 1900
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
For-I am ready to preach and here is why
This is because it alone is God’s power to save all those who believe
Why is he not ashamed? Because he knows the gospel he preaches is the divinely appointed means to bring salvation to the world.
The gospel is not merely about God’s power; it is the very instrument through which His power operates.
And the God tells us how
Romans 1:17 KJV 1900
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Why Paul is not ashamed of the Gospel: the righteousness of God is revealed “from faith to faith”
Righteousness of God = righteousness from God. the source.
APP: The thing we lack and cannot have on our own. The thing that drives us to be people pleasers and workaholics. We know we will never measure up to anyone. WE need righteousness.
From faith to faith-revealed as something that comes for our entire life, faith from first to last.
Proved from the OT:
We live by faith.
Personal Life: In your personal day-to-day, living by faith means you’re not just relying on your own strength or wisdom. You’re starting your day with trust in God, leaning on Him in prayer, and letting that faith shape your decisions and your peace of mind. It's about that constant trust that you’re not walking alone.
Family Life: In the family sphere, living by faith means you’re modeling that same trust to your loved ones. You’re showing your kids, your spouse, or anyone in your household that faith isn’t just for Sunday morning; it’s for how you handle stress, how you make family decisions, how you forgive each other, and how you celebrate the good stuff. It’s a living example.
Church and Work Life: In your church community and your job, living by faith means you’re bringing that same gospel confidence into your interactions. You’re serving others with humility because you know your identity is secure in Christ.
