We have been studding about God’s Grace and what it means to receive God’s Grace. Well today we are going into Hebrews to learn about crossing into Faith with God and crossing over the line into faith and not just talking the talk. I ran across a letter written by one of our Bishops in the Global Methodist Church. It was written by Bishop Jeffery Greenway, in his letter he was talking about crossing the line of faith and it got me to thinking are we just walking up to the line of faith or are we crossing over into true faith? Let me read to you from his letter:

It was written by Bishop Jeffery Greenway, in his letter he was talking about crossing the line of faith and it got me to thinking are we just walking up to the line of faith or are we crossing over into true faith? Let me read to you from his letter:
Some Thoughts on Crossing the Line of Faith
About thirty years ago, I heard a person invite another person to “cross the line of faith” and follow Jesus. The person had been sharing life with his friend for a long time. He responded to the friend’s questions with grace. He often shared the reason for the hope they had in Jesus with gentleness and respect and had seen them move closer and closer to responding to Jesus.
The image of “crossing the line of faith” was transformational for me. Jesus used a similar image in the Gospel of John, chapter 5:,
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)
This may be the clearest statement in the Bible that people have eternal life the moment they believe in Jesus Christ. We can imagine a line in the sand with Jesus on one side and everyone else on the other. The moment of faith is like taking Jesus’ hand and crossing over to his side. In that moment, we receive assurance of eternal life.
Some people think they’re right with God because they’re moving toward the line. With age, perhaps, they become more kind, caring and compassionate. But moving toward the line is not the same as crossing over the line. You can move toward the line your entire life and die on the wrong side of it.
Others think they’re right with God because they are very close to the line. Perhaps they go to church, give money, and sing in the choir. But being close to the line is not the same as crossing over the line. You could be close to the line your entire life and die on the wrong side of it.
Crossing over the line is taking the hand of Jesus Christ and saying, “I believe in you, Lord, and I’m coming over to your side today.” It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’ve been, what you’ve done, how many times you’ve done it—or even how many times you do it in the future.
The moment you believe in Jesus Christ you have eternal life. You won’t be judged. You’ve crossed over from death to life.
Choose life. Cross the line of faith!
You see the bishop has given us clear description of how we are to walk and cross the line of faith. Let’s look at Hebrews chapter 6 and study Gods word on crossing the line of faith.

Hebrews 6
Hebrews 6
6 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,[a] and of faith in God, 2 instruction about cleansing rites,[b] the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so.

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age

6 and who have fallen[c] away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

7 Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

9 Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation. 10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. 11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. 12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

The Certainty of God’s Promise
The Certainty of God’s Promise
13 When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”[d] 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

16 People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. 17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.

19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

You see God Promised Abraham all his descendants would have the opportunity to go to heaven, We would have to make that choice and cross the line into faith which God has created by Jesus dying for our death and forgiving all our sins. The question today is will you cross the line into faith with God?
