Building an Attacking Offense

Last week was all about spiritual defense.
We have to defend ourselves and be on the alert because we cannot outsmart Satan.
We have to keep the armor on at all times.
Out of everything we acquire from Ephesians 6, the vast majority of the equipment is defensive.
This week, we shift our attention to the offensive.
How do we put Satan on his heels?
How do we counteract his influence?
How do we drive him far away from us?
Ephesians 6 gives us a couple of weapons towards the end of the passage.
Ephesians 6:17–18 ESV
and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Sword of the Spirit

This weapon is the only analogy that is blatantly explained.
“… the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God...”
The Word gets 2 uses here.
First it is what girds our lions, holds up our britches, so that we don’t fall over ourselves in battle.
