Psalm of the Day: Psalm 113
Psalm of the Day: Psalm 113
Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!
The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens!
Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.
Praise the Lord!
Scripture Memorization: Genesis 50:19-20
Scripture Memorization: Genesis 50:19-20
Genesis 50:19–20 “But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:17-19
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:17-19
By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, of whom it was said, “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

Well once again, and as always, good morning church. I am always, and I truly mean this from the bottom of my heart. I am always glad when they say to me. Let us go and worship in the house of the Lord. Well, today, we'll be. We will be turning our attention to Genesis chapter 22. Well, in fact, the covering the entire chapter here. And in some ways we could talk about. Go read the commentaries. This is the theological and emotional high point of the Book of Genesis. This is the the point that we've been building up to and everything that comes after flows out of this point. This is the most influential and important and Central to the message of Genesis passage in all of Genesis. I could say that.
00:52
And I would say that, but I would also say this. Every person. There are exceptions most people. Did I say, oh, I'm currently preaching through the Book of Genesis? This Genesis 22 is the text. That they want to talk about. And for many, they don't know. It's Genesis 22.
01:16
Talking to people who are. Functionally non-believers, so don't go to church. You don't say, you know, what's interesting about Genesis? I always remember the story of. Abraham, sacrificing his son. This is it? This is the the payoff. This is what we've been working towards. It's Central and everyone seems to know about it. There's a a visceral and visual aspect to this text that we cannot miss. And so, as we turn our heart, our attention towards this passage, I would like to help us out. With just this one note of context. I don't want to dive into all the context I do that often, right? We'll just review everything that's come up to Genesis till now to get us here.
02:06
But I'll say this. If this resonates in our hearts and Minds, I think we can grasp what's going on in this text. God has made. Enormous promises to Abraham. And all of those promises. In Abraham's heart, soul, and mind. Hinge on one person. His son. Isaac. And so Isaac, the child of Promise. Is in danger. The very promises of God. It feels like. Are in danger. I think that's the weight as we read this text. Genesis chapter 22, we will read the whole chapter. We will start in verse 1, then.
02:58
After these things, God tested Abraham. And said to him, Abraham, and he said, here I am. He said, take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love. And go to the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, of which I shall tell you.
03:22
So, Abraham Rose early in the morning, saddle his donkey, and took two of his young men with him. And his son, Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. On the third day, Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. Then, Abraham said to his young man. Stay here with the donkey I and the boy will go over there and worship and come back to you. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac, his son.
03:55
And he took in his hand, the fire, and the knife. So they went both of them together. And Isaac said to his father, Abraham, my father. And he said, here I am, my son. And he said, behold, the fire and the wood. But where is the lamb for the burnt offering? Abraham said God will provide for himself. The lamb for a burnt offering. My son. So they went both of them together. When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built an altar there. And laid the wood in order and bound Isaac, his son, and laid him on top of the altar on top of the wood.
04:38
Then, Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven and said Abraham Abraham. And he said, here I am. He said. Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now, I know that you fear God seeing that you have not withheld your son, your only son from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes and look, and behold, behind him, was a ram caught in a Thicket by its horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.
05:12
So, Abraham called the name of that place. The Lord will provide. As it is to this day, as it is said to this day on the Mount of the Lord, it shall be provided. And the angel Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven and said. By myself, I have sworn, declares the Lord. Because you have done this and not withheld your son, your only son. I will surely bless you. And I will surely multiply your Offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your Offspring shall possess the Gate of his enemies and in your Offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because you have obeyed my voice.
05:52
So, Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba and Abraham lived at Beersheba. No. After these things, it was told to Abraham. Behold, milka also has borne children to either brother nahor. Ooze his firstborn booze, his brother Kimmel, the father of Aram kesid. Hazo pill dash? Jidloff and Bethul Bethul, father Rebecca. These eight bore milka. These eight milk aborts and nahor Abraham's brother, moreover, his concubine, whose name was remua borteba, gam tahash, and Maka. These are the words of the Lord for us this morning. Let's open our time together with a word of prayer.
06:40
Our Father in Heaven. Holy is your name. As we see here, the work of your servants, the work of you. As we see here, the weight of. As we see here. Before the God who calls who saves, who delivers? May we see clearly what you have done and what you have said? May you speak to our hearts? I asked this morning that you give us Clarity of thoughts. Give us right thinking when it comes to you and what you have said and done. Pray for clarity of thought. Clarity of voice. I asked this morning you would speak through your servant.
07:22
May we all be conformed in the image of your son? The one who you? Gave to us that we may have eternal life. We thank you for the precious gift of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. It's in his name that we pray. Amen. Amen. This is, as I said, a very difficult text. If we are being honest? Ultimately, this is what we will talk about in in Grace groups this week. This is challenging. Because it feels like, well, God's asking for a human sacrifice. And doesn't that just go against everything we know about who God is and what God Said, yes?
08:06
If God were to willingly accept and demand a human sacrifice. That would go against everything God has said. And commanded. So, how do we read this being faithful to the text being faithful to what's going on here, being faithful to all of scripture, being faithful to the testimony of God's word, all of God's word? I think that's the difficult task set before us today.
08:37
And I would say for those who would listen. There's a very important word. One word. We're going to have to spend the first portion of our time together this morning, dealing with one word to rightly understand what exactly is going on here. And we find it in the first verse. Genesis chapter 1, verse 22. After these things, God. Tested. Abraham. Here is the first point, and we cannot miss this. This is a test. This is not a command. This is not a pattern that we are called to see and understand and model in our own lives.
09:26
We are called to see and understand. I mean, we're not called to see it in our own lives and see it as something for us. This is a test, and this is a particular test to a particular man who lived in a particular time with a particular set of circumstances all around him. This is not God coming and saying, and we've seen this earlier. Wait, when God in Genesis 17, we had the the Covenant of circumcision. What did God say? He said, this is a command for you and for all of your children after you. This is what you shall do.
09:56
That was explicit. We were told explicitly. This is something that God has called on these people to be set apart. We are marking God's people, there will be a mark in their flesh for all time of the promises of God. This is not a command. God doesn't test mankind after these things. God tested Abraham. And so this call this whatever is happening here is particular to this man, Abraham. This is not God calling for a an enactment of human sacrifice. At best, we could argue if you really wanted to push down this road at best. God is asking for exactly one.
10:42
Isaac.
10:47
But we don't read after these things. God demanded of Abraham offer your son. This is a test. This is only a test. Were this to be a commands, more instructions would have followed.
11:07
This is a test.
11:12
God here. Test him. He comes. And he says to Abraham, what is the test? Verse 2. Take your son. We know who this is, his only other son. Ishmael has already been disowned and kicked out with his mother. This was part of the purpose of of two weeks ago, when we looked at Hagar and Ishmael and all the stuff with, that's going on there. It's clear there's only one son. God says, take your son, Abraham knows. But God doubles down. Take your son, your only son, Isaac. Just in case for a second, you thought. Okay, I know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go back. I'm gonna go around and find Ishmael. No.
12:00
Take your son, your only son, Isaac, the only one, the promise, the child of promise. Take your son, your only son whom you love.
12:13
Hey guys!
12:18
Here's the test. Offer him there as a burnt offer. On one of the mountains. For some context, it's important we understand this. What was a burnt offering? A burnt offering would be the short, the short and dirty version of this. You Slaughter the animal, you drain all its blood. You dismember the animal, so it fits rightly on the Altar, and you burn it to Ash all of it. This isn't go kill. Your son. And we know Abraham knows this because of the language used later in the text. Abraham will lift his his hand with the knife to do what?
13:05
Verse. 10, Abraham reached out his hand, took the knife to slaughter. His son. Say, gory. Bloody mess. It's what I want.
13:25
One of my commentaries said this, and it is important for us to understand. The test for Abraham, though. Is not primarily. Whether to sacrifice a beloved Son? Though that is no doubt involved emotionally. The real test is whether Abraham will sacrifice the one person who can perpetuate the promises of God. And here's how we start to understand. Why is this important for Abraham? Why is this here in this text important for this time and this?
14:07
What God is asking is not just sacrifice your son, though. That's what it is your son, your only son. Because as we as I started today by saying all of God's promises are in? Isaac. I'm going to make this connection a lot. But I just want us to think through this for Abraham and his life. And as he views, what's going on here? The promises of God have found their yes and amen in Isaac. For Abraham in this time and in this place, Abraham's the one who was promised Abraham was Pro sorry. Isaac is the one who was prophesied. Isaac is the one who was prophets promised.
14:52
Remember, they said, in one year, when the angel Lord came with the two guests in one year, your wife will be carrying a son. It was Isaac. Through Isaac, shall your Offspring. We need all of this. This is the test. Will you sacrifice all of your hopes and dreams? Because God has asked you to?
15:14
This is the test. A test that would have lasting implication. As Moses would be pinning this. And let's imagine we are. On the precipice of entering the promised land, and Moses is relaying to us the history of our people how God has brought us here. What is this test? What does this story communicate? Any Israelite who heard this story would take it to mean that his entire race odig's existence to the mercy of God and our prosperity. We owe to The Obedience. Of our ancestor. This is a story about a test that will prove Abraham's faithfulness and then become the vehicle by which God's blessings will flow. This is a.
15:59
Test.
16:02
This is not something to be mimicked. This is not something that we should ever expect God to do. The easiest way. I could say this is, I'll put it this way until God comes to you. Slaughter. Some animals walks himself between them and promises you all sorts of things. We have to be careful how we appropriate this text. This is not God demanding child sacrifice. This is a test for Abraham. And though, the test here is to be willing to offer his son. And I think the context and the rest of the story proves that.
16:43
We need to understand what's going on here. This is a test. And in this test. Abraham. Oh, base.
16:57
I was reading one of my commentaries, and they they. They went back and they looked at the last times. God sort of said things to Abraham. All right, we can go to Genesis chapter. 15.
17:14
God comes, and he says, fear not. In 15, verse 1, your reward will be grades. Abraham kind of complains. But God, I don't have an heir. Eliezer of Damascus is my heir. And God says, no, your very own son will be your heir. And Abraham says. You sure, and God takes him outside. And he looks at the stars. Abraham's been in this? Throughout all of that, we've seen so far. It's been a little push back and God has graciously dealt with him. But here, God says, go sacrifice your son. And he does. He's willing to.
17:57
He goes to sacrifice his son. That's maybe the best way we could put it. He wakes up early. The next day. Heroes early in the morning takes his donkey, his son, and two servants. We're going. His son, who here best estimate 16 years old?
18:17
We know this because he's old enough and strong enough to help carry the load when they get here to the mountains of Mariah. He's old enough to have a conversation to realize what's going on that. We have this. Yet still not so old as? Sort of. Put up a fight, and there's there's a few reasons contextually. We read this. So probably about 16 years old. He takes him. Verse three, it's Abraham, who cuts the wood 100 years old. He's going to go chop wood that's long, exhausting work. This is what God said, we're going to do it.
18:54
And he goes.
18:58
We shouldn't just gloss over the fact that Abraham's obedience wasn't just like. Spur of the moment. This is long and committed obedience. Three days of hiking. Three days of walking, three days of worry, three days of Sorrow, three days of stress, three days of heartbreak, three days. Looking forward to this difficult, painful life shattering task. Three days of walking and trudging and riding and hiking. Three days of looking at his son and knowing what's coming up three days. They get there.
19:38
They're not done. Abraham leaves his two servants to the side. Stay here. We'll be back.
19:48
I think this is an important thought. Why did Abraham obey? Certainly Faith. He had Faith, but what he had faith in. And often, I say, well, this is where we use our Sanctified imagination. We sort of think, well, what is it that Abraham did Abraham know God would provide Iran? Did Abraham know this that or the other? Well, Corey this morning. Read for us, a passage, and I think this is important. We don't have to imagine. Was Abraham able to obey? He. Chapter 7, chapter 11, rather verse 17. By faith, Abraham, when he was tested, so just know I wasn't just making up this whole. This is only a test thing. The writer of Hebrews is, who tells us that's the word to focus on by faith, Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac.
20:45
And he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son of who was said through Isaac, shall your Offspring renamed? Why did he do it? Why was he able to do it? Verse 19 he considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead.
21:10
So, Abraham's Faith I, I wanted to belabor this. Because. We can. We sort of think, okay. Well, Abraham. He said. Well, you know, God will figure it out. This is what he did verse 21. Hey, Isaac asked him, you know, hey Dad. Little weird, just throwing this out here. I see the sticks, see the fire, see the knife. Don't see any offering? Verse 8. God will provide for himself, the lamb for a burnt offering. The ESV. Chooses this punctuation mark. A comma. My son. The reading here is. Is sort of a. A gentle response to his son. God will provide the offering my son.
22:10
No, no, my child. Don't worry, God will provide the offering.
22:16
I submit to you? That as you read this, even if you go back to the Hebrew. This sentence is intentionally written. With two ways to read it, one is this way. I think this is a valid way to read the text and likely the way that Abraham would want Isaac to understand these words. Don't worry, my son God'll take care of it. But a better punctuation mark to get the heart of what Abraham's wrestling through. Is not a comma. But a colon. This is what I mean by that. Truly what Abraham is saying is, God will provide for himself, the lamb for his burnt offering.
23:01
My son. Is a sacrifice that God has provided. It's you? The sacrifice that God has provided Abraham believes in his heart, that is his son, and he's going to go through with it with every fiber of his being, he's going to go through with it. Why is he able to do this because he believes deep in his art, the writer of Hebrew says that God will raise his child from the dead.
23:29
The faith of Abraham has exploded to this. This ability to trust in God for things that are unfathomable God has never once promised that he would raise anyone from the dead. God has never come to him. Like, don't worry, if you do this, God hasn't said that. He just believes in his heart. That God can raise his son from the dead. And so he's going to be willing to go through with whatever God says because God has shown that God will provide and God can do, and God will protect, and God will preserve. And if the promises through Isaac, I believe the promises through Isaac, and so, no matter what, even if I kill him, God will raise him from the dead because God can do that.
24:15
Abraham obeys because of his faith. His faith that God can raise even Isaac from the dead. Even Isaac were he to be cut in pieces and burned up on the altar. God can do that. And this ultimately is the test. Will he trust God that God can do? Whatever God wants.
24:43
Ultimately, I would say this is the test for all of us. Do you trust that God can do whatever he says he will do?
24:52
What does our obedience look like? Will you trust God? And if you were here for our series through Isaiah, you've heard this phrase a lot. I'll say it again. Will you trust God? We spend so much time trusting our own strengths in mind, our own scheming, our own ability we trust in the promises of man and Fallen people, the promises of politics, and the promises of this. Will you trust God? Will you trust him more than what you see more than what you even think, you know, will you trust God? That's the text. Abraham obeys. Abraham is willing.
25:35
Abraham. Obeys.
25:42
And is the final thought to this test and more proof that God isn't demanding a human sacrifice. God didn't want a human sacrifice. God wanted obedience. And this test was a test for obedience. God steps in, and God responds. In the first and most powerful and important way, he prevents Abraham from doing this thing. It's not what God wants. He doesn't want a human sacrifice, so he will not let him. The angel of the Lord comes Abraham Abraham. The thought of saying his name twice here is actually important. It emphasizes don't stop stop! Right? Well, we want to get someone's attention. We double down, we repeat what we're saying. Abraham Abraham don't

do this. Do not lay a hand on the boy. I

Speaker 1
26:30
don't want the sacrifice, but now I know. Being who the Lord says. That you fear God. He didn't even withhold your son.
26:43
When I was a youth pastor, you'd often get kids who they, you, way through, rightfully. I think it's good to Wade through. What is God demanding of me? Especially High School seniors, right? They're getting ready. Do I go to college? Do I join the military? What do I do here? What do I do there? What if God's calling me? To give up everything and move halfway across the world and go be a missionary to some place. I've never even heard of. This would be my response to. I don't know. The question is not? At the moment.
27:22
Is God calling you to that? Because that's the sort of thing I believe in my whole heart, you just know. That, you know, for certain God is calling you, it's not just a whim or a thought. There is a clear and direct call multiple people and other things will attest to this sort of call. The thought, just giving up everything and moving, that's not something that happens on a whim. So, so if you're struggling right now, this would be my exhortation to you. At the moment.
27:51
What matters is less. Is that what you're called to? The question is? If you were called to that? Would you go?
28:05
Because that's the faith that God responds to. God doesn't respond to Abraham, offering his son. He responds to Abraham being willing to. He responds to Abraham being open to. He responds to Abraham's trust in God that he could raise his child from the dead. So, whatever God says I will do?
28:26
And God responds to that. He responds by offering Abraham a an acceptable, a pleasing sacrifice of the ram. And so we go back to what Abraham said God did provide for himself a lamb. In fact, it wasn't a lamb. It was a ram. Caught by its horns, God provided this. That's what I want. I don't want Isaac. Want this ring? And so, Abraham's whole life changes. He changes the name of this place. Now, the name of this place the Lord will provide. The name of this place? Yahweh, Yahweh. God sees, and he will provide.
29:19
That's Abraham's Focus. It's interesting Abraham doesn't name this place. Maybe he should have in his own heart? The place of obedience. That would praise Abraham in what he's done, and I am here to praise what Abraham and his faith has done. Abraham doesn't focus on that.
29:41
The name of this place is not.
29:47
Isaac was delivered. This place is God Yahweh? The already God will provide?
29:58
And so, even to this day. And maybe more of us should be saying this phrase more often. On the Mount of the Lord, it shall be provided. Because God responds to. So as we Face trials and struggles and Trust struggles. Trials and struggles and troubles.
30:22
Here's my exhortation to you on the mouth of the Lord. It shall be provided. Trust in him, God responds. And then, in verses 15 and following God even more quintuples down on the promises. Abraham, you will be blessed. Your faith has has secured a great reward. By myself. I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this because you were willing to do this. All you will be multiplied. You'll be a blessing. Everything I've said to you is yours. You have grabbed the promises, the promises. It turns out we're not in Peril. God provided. In fact, the promises feeling like they're in Peril is for Abraham, a way that these promises are magnified and exploded and seen in beautiful, Splendid light.
31:19
I will bless you. Verse 17 I will multiply your Offspring. We're greater than the stars in the heavens and the sand on the seashore. Your Offspring shall possess the gates of his enemies. They will conquer. They will rule. They will be multiplied. They will be blessed. Because you did this?
31:38
God responds. And then we can note. Abraham picks up his stuff. It goes back to Beersheba. The place where he has a well. Still, no land. With him and his son, Adam altitude. Abraham Isaac and two servants walking back? And yet, the promises of God are more real and alive in Abraham's life in this moment than any other time.
32:13
God responds.
32:18
I know I'll get some Flack if I don't cover every verse versus 20 and following. We have we see a growth of the family around Abraham, the most important line in here, is the beginning of verse 23 Bethul, father Rebecca. Wants us to prepare for. Abraham's done. Abraham has passed the test. Abraham has achieved this blessing. Abraham. Good job. In many ways. In many ways, Abraham, well done, my good and faithful servant.
32:59
We're going to focus on Isaac next. Isaac needs a wife. Hint. The Thor, father Rebecca.
33:12
God's promises need to grow Isaac if he used to be the father of a multitude of Nations. He needs to have some kids. The story will go on, but here we pause for a moment Abraham.
33:26
God has responded.
33:31
As we approach this text as we, we let this text linger on us.
33:40
The two important thoughts that we should have. On one hand, everything we covered, this is a test for those who are in the household in the family of Faith. Know that this is a test. Abraham's obedience is a model for our obedience. May we obey God when he calls us to do the things he's called us to note. He is not calling you to sacrifice your son, I know this. Unless your name is Abraham. And you lived some six thousand years ago, and God made these Pro. This is just a test for him. God will test you in other ways.
34:15
But know that the testing God will work in it. You're called to obey. And God will respond. God will bless. God will keep God will grow. God tests us so that he can work in. Certainly, that's one aspect that we should note here.
34:33
Here's my final thought. May this be a blessing to you and your heart and soul today. I know for certain. That God did not demand the sacrifice of a son.
34:50
Because God. Himself. Gave his only son.
35:00
We cannot read this passage. We cannot read this text. And not think of Jesus.
35:10
We cannot read this text. And not see and understand. That. For Abraham, this was a a test. Would you be willing to do this?
35:23
Jesus freely offered himself.
35:28
When we hear John 3, 16, a verse, all of us are familiar with. For God. So loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. We cannot. Not remember, so we cannot not run, so we must remember. This context.
35:51
Abraham being willing to offer up his son. And when we read it this way, Abraham offering his son, we wait. The three days we let it linger our hearts can see and understand the the depth of trust in God and the the weight of this obedience. For God, so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Isaac here is the son who was going to be offered, was a foreshadowing of Jesus, the son who was offered to take away the sins of the world.
36:30
Abraham. Lays upon Isaac. The burden of the what? Important.
36:44
Later, we would read.
36:48
Of the burden of some wood being placed upon Jesus as he himself carried his own cross.
36:58
Pictures are all here.
37:03
Isaac was unaware. God, where is the Lamb? Jesus was fully aware. This is why he prayed that night in the garden God. If it be, your will let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours be done. Jesus knew what he was walking into.
37:26
He still was willing to.
37:30
Abraham was willing to offer his own son and didn't have to. God offered his own son on our behalf. We must see and understand. The beauty of our salvation?
37:47
And here we see it in this test.
37:52
How is it?
37:59
That God will bless and multiply. How is it that The Offspring of Abraham will possess the gates of his enemies?
38:10
Ephesians chapter 1.
38:29
We'll start in verse 15. We'll do this whole section. So, we do the end. Let's do the whole thing.
38:37
For this reason, Paul writes by the way. The reason is the gospel that, in Christ, we are predestined that he has called us that he has loved us that before the foundations of the earth he redeemed. He looked to us and said, you are mine. He set his redeeming love upon us. Since before even. In love, he predestined us. Verse 4 says for adoptionist Sons, he looked at us. He said, I want you and my family Those whom he called he foreknew. He will save us because of this. For this reason, Paul writes Ephesians chapter 1, verse 15, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love towards the Saints. I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
39:26
God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of Glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and of Revelation in the knowledge of him. Having the eyes of your heart enlightened that you may know, what is the hope to which he has called you? What are the riches of his glorious inheritance to the Saints? And what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might? He worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead. See, Abraham had faith that God could raise Isaac from the dead. Jesus was raised from the dead.
40:01
And he seated him at the right hand in the Heavenly places. Hey Abraham, your descendants shall possess the gates of your enemies. What does this look like? He seated Christ at his right hand in the Heavenly places verse 21, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above, every name that is named not only in this age, but also in the one to come. Jesus's name is the greatest name forever. How does Abraham's descendants possess the Gate of his enemies? It's right here. What does it look like? Here's why I wanted to come here, verse 22.
40:41
And he put and God put. All things under his feet under Jesus feet. You put all things under his feet. And gave him his head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills. All in all. There it is. For Paul, how are the promises to Abraham rightly fulfilled? They were fulfilled in Jesus. And so we go from the picture of Isaac, the son who would be sacrificed to Jesus, the son who was. We go from the sacrifice of the ram. To the perfect sacrifice in Jesus Christ. We move from Abraham's.
41:27
Finding some sort of reward to Jesus who is our reward? I said that for Abraham, all the promises of God found their yes, and amen. In Isaac. I think for Abraham at that time. That is true. But we know. That all the promises of God truly find their yes, and amen in Jesus. And from the time of Abraham to the time of Jesus, God added more promises. And there were times in Jesus time of us. He's had even more promises. All of them. Find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ. We must look to him. That is ultimately how God responds.
42:07
God responds by saving us redeeming us, calling us sealing.
42:16
What o man has be required of you? It'll be. And faith in him. Let's pray.
