Verse
Teacher: “Let’s read our verse together from Romans 8:38-39 (NIV):”
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Context
Context
Teacher: This was written by a man named Paul wrote this letter to Christians in Rome. They were going through some really hard things. He reminded them that because they have trusted in Jesus as their Lord, nothing can separate them from God’s love. They don’t have to fear
Gospel
Gospel
Teacher: “What is one way God shows His love to us?”
Kids: (Pause for responses)
Teacher: “The most beautiful way is in John 3:16.
Teacher: “What does it say?” (Let kids respond or read together if you want)
Teacher: It tells us that God loves the WHOLE world!” “Why did God have to send Jesus, His Son, to die?”
Kids: (Pause for responses)
Teacher: “Because of our sin — anything we think, say, or do that disobeys God — we cannot be with God”
Teacher cue/action: Tear the sheet of paper
Teacher: “But does God love the people He created? Does He love us and want us to be with Him?”
Kids: “YES!”
Teacher: “So what did He do?”
Kids: (Pause for guesses)
Teacher: “He showed the greatest act of love by sending His Son Jesus to die and take the punishment we deserved. As John says’ “If we believe in him we will be saved and with God” Those who don’t accept him will be separated from God forever, but this why Jesus came to restore that relationship so we don’t have to be separated forever.
Teacher cue/action: Tape the sheet back together
Teacher: “Did Jesus stay dead?”
Kids: “NO!”
Teacher: “He rose back to life! When we trust in what Jesus did for us we will be saved, and with God.
The Bible shows God’s true Word, showing us His plan for how He restoring our relationship with HIm.
Application
Application
Teacher: “When we trust in Jesus as our Lord, we are His children, and are safe and secure in his love. ”
“Not only will we be in heaven one day, but even now, He gives us the Holy Spirit to help us.”
“Nothing we face can change how God feels about us - nothing can separate us from His love — just like Romans 8 says. Imagine you are on the highest mountain? is Gods love there? Imagine your in the lowest valley and in darkness? Is God still loving you?
Reflection Questions:
Teacher: “Sometimes I wonder, is God real? Does He love me? Why is this happening to me?”
“What does our Romans verse remind me in those situations?”
Kids: “Nothing can separate me from God’s love!”
Teacher: “What about you? When you trust in God, what can separate you from His love?”
“At school, if you are bullied or feel alone, or when you mess up and don’t feel like you deserve love, what can you remember?
Kids: “Nothing can separate me from God’s love!”
