Ties in 2:26 with the deceived “coming to their senses” - waking up from the drug induced stupor. Drugged seeds to catch birds.

The Outcome of the Wicked

Rejected in regard to the faith

They will not make further progress

Their folly is evident to all

Will proceed from bad to worse

Deceiving and being deceived
