Ephesians 2:10

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”
“For we are God’s MASTERPIECE. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago”. NLT
God called you a WORKMANSHIP, in the NLT it says MASTERPIECE. The Greek word for both is poiema peema”. It means work, creation. To create something you have to be intentional to create it. You fashion and form it carefully. HOW it gets created is not a mistake. It’s intentional.
When you create a shirt, it has a purpose—to cover the body.
If you create a car, it has a purpose—to get you around from point A to point B.
When you create anything, you are purposeful and you have the purpose for the creation BEFORE it is even formed. The thought and care is in your mind BEFORE you put in the work!
GOD CAREFULLY, FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE YOU!
Psalm 139:14 “I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well.”
WE are also His works…and its called WONDROUS!
2. Your worth is in CHRIST JESUS because you are CREATED in YESHUA!
a. We are Created IN him. YOU/WE are NOT a mistake!
b. Your relationship status right now is not a mistake. God didn’t forget about you. He has a purpose and a plan for you—
FOR GOOD WORKS! And this work is to bring glory to GOD alone! (The bible says only God is good.)
3. God prepared ahead of time—the Greek word for this phrase is proetoimazo praeteemahzo” and it has an interesting meaning: to prepare at a previous time OR in EXPECTATION of an event; to get ready before.
a. God has prepared the paths already. We just have to AGREE to walk the path! It’s a decision—to receive His goodness
OR create our own (ROCKY, MUDDY, STAGNANT) path.
b. The AMP version states …”taking paths which HE set so that we would walk in them (living the good life which He
prearranged and made ready for us)”.
4. The greek passage “for us to do” is peripateo “peripatayo” to live or behave in a specified manner; walk, live, to conduct
oneself.
a. Are we conducting ourselves in the manner God prepared for us to do beforehand?
b. Are we walking and living the good works we were created in Christ Jesus to do??
APPLICATION:
Consider the story of a young man who felt inadequate due to his single status, constantly comparing himself to his married friends. One day, he decided instead to use his time to mentor younger men at church. Over time, he discovered that his contributions were making a significant impact, realizing his worth was not tied to being married but in being a vessel for God’s love and grace.
Reflecting on the story of the young man, how can we shift our focus from societal expectations to fulfilling God's purpose in our current circumstances?
QUESTIONS:
Reflecting on the story of the young man, how can we shift our focus from societal expectations to fulfilling God's purpose in our current circumstances?
How does understanding that we are God's 'masterpiece' affect our self-worth?
3. How does Psalm 139:14 complement the message in Ephesians 2:10 about our worth and creation?
4. How can we cultivate a mindset to recognize and pursue the 'good works' that God has prepared for us?
5. In what ways can acknowledging ourselves as God's masterpiece enhance our self-esteem, relationship status and relationship with God?
