The Epidemic

The Center for Disease Control & Prevention say…
20 million children ages 3-17 years of age suffer from…
Anxiety
ADHD
Depression
1 out 4 adults are diagnosed with a mental illness.
Secular Therapeutic Enterprise
1 out 10 people in North America are on psychotropic drugs (anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, stimulate) - Maybe as much as 1 out of 4!
Psychotropic Industry is a billion dollar industry!
Are they effective?
These drugs are not fixing the problem but are just patching the symptom.
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) - This is the bible of of the SECULAR Therapeutic.
It assigns mental disorders based off symptoms (DSM 5TR).
About every 15 years or so we get a new DSM:
DSM - 1 published in 1952
DSM - 2 published in 1968
DSM - 3 published in 1980
DSM - 4 published in 1994
DSM - 5 published in 2013
From DSM 3 to DSM 5 what is happening is that normal behaviors are being stigmatized as abnormal.
Example:
Binge Eating Disorder - Eating to the point of being uncomfortable.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder - When anxiety is uncontrollable to you.
What happened when the DSM-5 was published was that people that went to bed well woke up sick!
DSM is also taking abnormal behavior and has destigmatized it.
DSM-3 removed homosexuality as a mental disorder.
DSM-5 removed gender dysphoria or transgenderism.
So what normal is wrong and what abnormal is right.
Judges 17:6 “In those days Israel had no king. Each man did what he considered to be right.”
Hebrews 5:14 “ But solid food is for the mature, whose perceptions are trained by practice to discern both good and evil.”
Hard to trust the DSM because it is filled with unverifiable diagnosis.
The way a DSM works:
You go into a psychiatrist office and describe your experience.
No blood work or brain scan is taking place.
The psychiatrist is listening to the patient and diagnoses them based only on the patient’s words (This is called symptom based diagnosing).
The patient leaves with a mental illness or disease without any verifiable proof that they truly have a disease or mental illness.
Dr. Allen Frances - (Professor and Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine.)
who was apart of the DSM 4 but refused to be involved with DSM 5 because he said, “It’s getting wacky, we are taking things too far.”
Another quote from him, “Our topic is who is sick and who is not. Pretty soon, everybody’s going to be sick.”
