Context

Exodus 19:16 KJV 1900

Command #2

Exodus 20:4 KJV 1900
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
God doesn’t want us to make any statues or pictures and worship them like they are God.
People have a hard time worshipping God because they can’t see Him, so they make idols and worship that.
Q: Do you have an idol in your room?
Q: Do you think we still have idols today?

Idol = Anything that is more important in your heart than God
Command #3
Exodus 20:7 KJV 1900
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
God wants us to respect His name. He says it’s sin if we use His name in a silly or a mean way.
Q: Why do you think God wants us to use His name with respect? (His name is special!!)
