READ V21-43

MORE HEALING…MORE MIRACLES…THE BIGGEST MIRACLE YET!!!!

Jesus heading to heal a mans daughter (Jarius -ruler in the synagog)

On His way many followed Him and pressed up on Him…

Thats where we see our next miracle…

Jesus makes clean that which was unclean (v24-34)

Being unclean was a huge deal to a Jew...Cleanliness in the law is of the utmost importance

For a woman to bleed made her unclean…she couldn't even be touched…And whatever she touched or that which touched her would be called unclean.

Leviticus 15:19-20,25-27 “19 And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening. And every thing that she lies upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sits upon shall be unclean…25 And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean. 26 Every bed whereon she lies all the days of her issue shall be to her as the bed of her separation: and whatsoever she sits upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation. 27 And whosoever touches those things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.”

SO this woman would be considered an outcast…like the leper from chapter 1…

No one will touch her…she cant go around others…

WHATEVER SHE TOUCHES BECOMES UNCLEAN…

NOTICE Mans work- FAILED (v26) she had suffered man treatments from many physicians…ALL FAILED…NOT ONLY THAT…THEY GOT WORSE!!!!

THIS IS WHAT SIN IS…

A chronic issue of uncleanliness!!! A bleeding out of life…

An issue man cant fix…and when we try we make it worse…

This poor woman has been through every treatment man has to offer…and still nothing…no avail

we are meeting her in Mark 5 at the end of her rope…Nowhere else to go…desperate

Then she hears of the miracles being done by Jesus…v27

Hope builds in her…Finally one who can save me!!! Deliver me from uncleanliness

I mean look at her confidence in Jesus…READ 28!

She knows He is Lord… She has heard of the testimony of His authority and power!!!

IF I JUST TOUCH HIM I WILL BE MADE WELL!!!

And she does…and she is…

Jesus’s response “WHO TOUCHED ME?” I felt power leave me…

The woman comes trembling with fear…why???

Because remember…who ever she touches becomes unclean…she just touched a holy man…THE LORD GOD HIMSELF…

So she tells Him…as she trembles at His feet and says…I heard about you Jesus…I knew if I touched you Id be healed…

LOOK AT JESUS’S RESPONSE…To a woman who was cast out and unclean…Who none could even touch…or sit on the same chair with…LOOK HOW JESUS ADDRESSES HER…

DAUGHTER…(the only recorded time Jesus calls any woman daughter btw)

Daughter…you are mine now...and my children are made clean…

BUT He goes on to let her know…It wasn't touching me that healed you…Your faith in Me did it…

You placed your faith in the only ONE who could heal you…and you have been healed…

BUT HE AIN’T DONE YET YALL!!!

Jesus makes alive that which was dead (v35-43)

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL MISSION- We are going to heal a little girl

V35- your daughter is dead…why bother the Master any further?

V36- BE NOT AFRAID…ONLY BELIEVE!!!!

Don’t listen to man…listen to ME…BELIEVE!!!!

HEAR MY WORDS…BELIEVE IN ME!!! PLACE YOUR FAITH IN ME!!!!

Looking at her father…knowing that He was with Jesus as the bleeding woman was healed…

BELIEVE!!!

They go in the house…full of people wailing and mourning…

I wasn't you to notice how little death bothers the Lord…”Why do you weep…why do you make this great commotion??? she is not dead…but sleeps”

The laughed at Him…

He clears the room…went in where the little girl was laying…with her parents by His side…

In that moment a father sees his 12 year old daughter…laying lifeless in her bed…(I cant imagine)

PLACE YOURSELF IN HIS SHOES MEN…Mothers…place yourself in her mothers shoes…

As a father here…I would be fighting the urge of my flesh to weep uncontrollably…

The only thing preventing me from it in this moment…would be the words of God almighty repeating themselves in my head…BELIEVE..BELIEVE…DON’T BE AFRAID…BELIEVE…

And with their eyes fixed on Jesus…

HE REACHES DOWN…grabs the lifeless hand of a 12 year old girl and says what has to be the most beautiful words these parents have ever heard…

TALITHA CUMI—-”Little girl…I say to you…ARISE”

AND SHE DID…

JESUS HAS AUTHORITY OVER THE ELEMENTS (STORMS AND THE RAGING SEA)

JESUS HAS AUTHORITY OVER DEMONS (CASTING THEM OUT…DESTROYING THEM)

JESUS HAS AUTHORITY OVER SICKNESS (LEPROSY…BLEEDING…FEVER)

JESUS HAS AUTHORITY OVER DEATH!!!!

HE HAS AUTHORITY OVER ALL THINGS WE FEAR…OVER ALL THINGS THAT CONQUOR MAN!!!!

OUR LORD HAS AUTHORITY OVER THEM!!!!

SO WHAT CAN WE TAKE FROM THIS?

We talked about last week…that these signs and miracles that are being preformed are for the Jews…to show them THAT JESUS WAS THE MESSIAH

As we look at these 2 miracles…they are a testament to Israel…

Israel:

NOTICE the woman who bled…bled for 12 years…and the little girl is 12 years old

number 12 stands for Israel (12 loaves of show bread, 12 tribes)

Israel Unclean (SINFUL…this was a chronic condition)

Israel Dead

Its the same thing with mankind though to…

Man:

Man is unclean (SINFUL this is a chronic condition)

Man is dead in his sin…

BUT LOOK AT THE TURNING POINT IN BOTH THESE MIRACLES…

The bleeding woman- V34 FAITH

The father of the daughter- V36 FAITH/ BELIEVE

UNSAVED- you are bleeding out!!! you cant save yourself…place your faith in Jesus! Its the only thing that saves you from death. SIN=DEATH…its coming

CHRIST FOLLOWERS- REMEMBER WHO YOUR FAITH IS IN!!!!

Look at Jarius…who came to Christ because he knew His authority…

Saw Him heal the bleeding woman…

KNOWS WHAT JESUS IS CAPABLE OF…

BUT IN THE FINAL MOMENTS…As he is about to enter into the scariest moment of his life…

NEEDS A REMINDER FROM THE LORD…

“don’t be afraid…believe”

We face pain, persecution, hardship, death

Don’t be anxious, don’t fear…BELIEVE

BELIEVE IN THE ONE WHO:

MADE THAT WICH WAS SINFUL (you)…RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY

MADE THAT WHICH WAS DEAD (you)…LIVE AGIAN…FOREVER!!!!

PRAY!!!
