If you’re hurting, confused, been betrayed, going through personal issues, family issues, marital issues, children issues, life and death issues, struggling with sin, struggling with self (vanity, selfishness), struggling with life, this is for you!

First Steps

The God we serve vs (Yahweh). the gods of this world.

Jesus (Yeshua) is Yahweh who created Himself a Human life, a perfect Human life, and grew up and lived just as we have had to.

If you’re not properly Born Again of water and Spirit after forsaking/repenting of sin, you’re not going to get the full benefit of what God is trying to do.

For those of us who already have been properly Born Again, if you’re not living the way we’re supposed to, holy (purely, separately), righteously (uprightly), then you’re not going to get the full benefit of what God has provided and is trying to do in your life.

If you’re new, make sure you get connected with the person The Lord Jesus would have you to. The easiest way to know is, who is trying to help you, teach you, mentor you. Maybe they haven’t popped up yet, or maybe you overlooked what God is trying to do through them.

Get your spiritual disciplines in place, or back in place if you’re slacking on them. By not doing so, you are effectively disregarding your relationship with The Lord Jesus, no if, and’s, or but’s about it!

Get into a good Bible Study, a good foundational Bible Study that will go over the Big Picture of God’s Word so that you can have a solid idea of what’s being talked about in service or life groups.

Listen to an audio Bible if you have difficulty reading and just start from the beginning.

Make time for The Lord Jesus. You have to be INTENTIONAL! Satan and his world aren’t going to take it easy on you, him and they want you living miserably and heading to hell right with them, whether the people know it or not, satan does. I have a simple devotional template to help you figure out when is the best time for you to spend time with The Lord in prayer.

Be prepared for change, because living for The Lord Jesus, change is constant, good change, challenging change, but always for your, and your family’s good!

Entering Into Covenant With God

John 3:1–8 HCSB

1 There was a man from the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Him at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher, for no one could perform these signs You do unless God were with him.” 3 Jesus replied, “I assure you: Unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 “But how can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked Him. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again. 8 The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. The Message

Luke 4:16–21 NKJV

16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” 20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

We have to keep our hearts close to The Lord’s heart, especially when we are confused, hurt, and don’t understand (Mary, The Apostle’s, all the remaining disciples).

Stages of development: very similar in both the physical and supernatural.

You’re not going to understand everything when you begin, much like children, we just do what we’re told because we are expecting that those who are instructing us know what they’re talking about right?

So if you’re a mentor, make sure you have your spiritual life in order, that you have the fundamentals down and in place!

The Fundamentals include: prayer, fasting, reading/studying God’s Word/being in a Bible Study, being an active part of The Church, being in submission to Pastor/leadership.

Spiritual growth is “optional”, you can stay right where you’re at, but whether you stay, or you grow, both have a cost! (Jn 15)

Conditions that cause regression

Works of the flesh

Galatians 5:19–21 NKJV

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

These are things The Lord is trying to get us to either conquer, or help us break free from. From there, through your spiritual disciplines, you give The Lord Jesus the opportunity to help you live control over them.

It’s when your spiritual disciplines lessen, that your spiritual connection does too, which is why you begin to struggle more.

Sin will always pull you backwards in your spirituality, it will NEVER help you to move forward, although it will deceive you into thinking that it will.

Matthew 18:1–7 HCSB

1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 Then He called a child to Him and had him stand among them. 3 “I assure you,” He said, “unless you are converted and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child—this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one child like this in My name welcomes Me. 6 “But whoever causes the downfall of one of these little ones who believe in Me—it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depths of the sea! 7 Woe to the world because of offenses. For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes.

God’s Covenant

Luke 4:16–21 NKJV

Jeremiah 31:31–34 HCSB

BUT, in order to appreciate what’s available, you may need to know where we’ve come from, and why we’re in the mess that we’re in.

Where it all started

The Garden of Eden: Perfection

God calls Abram, makes him into a nation, and establishes The Mosaic Covenant: drawing closer, but not power provided.

Abrahamic Covenant

Genesis 17:1–8 HCSB

1 When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. Live in My presence and be blameless. 2 I will establish My covenant between Me and you, and I will multiply you greatly.” 3 Then Abram fell facedown and God spoke with him: 4 “As for Me, My covenant is with you: you will become the father of many nations. 5 Your name will no longer be Abram, but your name will be Abraham, for I will make you the father of many nations. 6 I will make you extremely fruitful and will make nations and kings come from you. 7 I will keep My covenant between Me and you, and your future offspring throughout their generations, as an everlasting covenant to be your God and the God of your offspring after you. 8 And to you and your future offspring I will give the land where you are residing—all the land of Canaan—as an eternal possession, and I will be their God.”

Genesis 17:9–14 HCSB

Mosaic Covenant:

Establish Abrahams offspring as a legit nation, and give them His Laws to help guide a pure and upright society

Exodus 19:1–7 HCSB

1 In the third month, on the same day of the month that the Israelites had left the land of Egypt, they entered the Wilderness of Sinai. 2 After they departed from Rephidim, they entered the Wilderness of Sinai and camped in the wilderness, and Israel camped there in front of the mountain. 3 Moses went up the mountain to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain: “This is what you must say to the house of Jacob, and explain to the Israelites: 4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Me. 5 Now if you will listen to Me and carefully keep My covenant, you will be My own possession out of all the peoples, although all the earth is Mine, 6 and you will be My kingdom of priests and My holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to say to the Israelites.” 7 After Moses came back, he summoned the elders of the people and set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded him.

Covenant Ceremony

Exodus 24:1–8 HCSB

1 Then He said to Moses, “Go up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and 70 of Israel’s elders, and bow in worship at a distance. 2 Moses alone is to approach the Lord, but the others are not to approach, and the people are not to go up with him.” 3 Moses came and told the people all the commands of the Lord and all the ordinances. Then all the people responded with a single voice, “We will do everything that the Lord has commanded.” 4 And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early the next morning and set up an altar and 12 pillars for the 12 tribes of Israel at the base of the mountain. 5 Then he sent out young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed bulls as fellowship offerings to the Lord. 6 Moses took half the blood and set it in basins; the other half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 He then took the covenant scroll and read it aloud to the people. Davidic Covenant:

Establishes King David’s Dynasty and Household, and establishes that The Eternal King would come through his descendents.

1 Chronicles 17:1–14 HCSB

1 When David had settled into his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Look! I am living in a cedar house while the ark of the Lord’s covenant is under tent curtains.” 2 So Nathan told David, “Do all that is on your heart, for God is with you.” 3 But that night the word of God came to Nathan: 4 “Go to David My servant and say, ‘This is what the Lord says: You are not the one to build Me a house to dwell in. 5 From the time I brought Israel out of Egypt until today I have not lived in a house; instead, I have moved from tent to tent and from tabernacle to tabernacle. 6 In all My travels throughout Israel, have I ever spoken a word to even one of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people, asking: Why haven’t you built Me a house of cedar?’ 7 “Now this is what you will say to My servant David: ‘This is what the Lord of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture and from following the sheep to be ruler over My people Israel. 8 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies before you. I will not take away My faithful love from him as I took it from the one who was before you. 14 I will appoint him over My house and My kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.’ ”

Problems With These Covenants

The People were weak and compromised, so what was God to do?

God’s Announcement of a New Covenant

Jeremiah 31:31–33 HCSB

31 “Look, the days are coming”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 32 This one will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant they broke even though I had married them” —the Lord’s declaration. 33 “Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”—the Lord’s declaration. “I will put My teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people.

Ezekiel 11:19–20 HCSB

19 And I will give them one heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh, 20 so they may follow My statutes, keep My ordinances, and practice them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.

Ezekiel 36:24–30 HCSB

24 “For I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25 I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Isaiah 52:13–53:6 HCSB

Isaiah 53:10–11 HCSB

When You make Him a restitution offering, He will see His seed, He will prolong His days, and by His hand, the Lord’s pleasure will be accomplished. 11 He will see it out of His anguish, and He will be satisfied with His knowledge. The Call

The Lord Jesus is calling you to a full commitment, in your good times, and in your hearbreaking times, in the times when everything is clear, and the times when nothing is clear, the times when you’re joyful and everything is going well, and the times when you’re angry and furious.

When you read or listen to The Gospels, you’ll see that The Lord Jesus experienced all these things, and He knows what it’s like to have to endure them, and yet have the strength needed by The Spirit of God to make it through.

Healing may not come when you want it, but by staying close to The Lord Jesus, you can get the comfort you need, until He brings the healing.

This life can absolutely suck, but there is a better day coming, a time when The Lord Jesus renews this world, the new heaven and the new earth where everything is perfect. There’s no more tears, no more heartache, no more death, no more of the things that break our hearts, and you can begin to experience that Age now if you’ll repent, have your sins washed away in baptism in Jesus’ Name, be experientially filled with God’s Holy Spirit, and learn how to stay close to The Lord Jesus through prayer, praise, worship, His Word, and His Church!
