Main Point: The story of Scripture is about the establishment, loss, and re-establishment of the kingdom of God—through God’s presence, with God’s people, in God’s place, as they live out God’s purposes.

Discussion

What was your biggest take away from the Pre-Work this week?
What questions do you have about the prework?
Life’s story
How would you tell the story of Scripture if you only had 60 seconds?

Foundational exercise:

Draw a timeline of the story of the Bible.
Try to plot 10-15 major redemptive events from Genesis to Revelation.
Presence - God created the world as a temple home in which to dwell with His people.
People - God’s people are created to live in delighting fellowship with His presence.
Place - God gives His people a place to live with Him and for Him.
Purpose - God gives His people a purpose: to worship Him and reflect Him.

How does knowing the beginning and the end of the story of Scripture help us make sense of everything in between?

Give a specific example of an “in between” moment that comes into focus in the context of the whole story.

Christian Formation Assignment: “Sovereignty of God and Sabbath”

Over the next two weeks, at one specific time and place, spend two to three uninterrupted hours with the Lord.
Expectations:
Choose an environment with no distractions (electronics, advertisements, people)
Find a space by yourself; don’t take a buddy.
Bring only two things: a Bible and a journal.
Aside from these guidelines, there are no expectations for your time with the Lord. You are free to interact with Him in whatever way He prompts you.
We will discuss this assignment together on 10.29.2025.
Here are some questions we’ll ask:
What was your experience?
Was this assignment difficult? Why or why not?
What did you learn about God and about yourself?
How can you incorporate this spiritual discipline in everyday life?
