We reflect Jesus best when our lives are surrendered to God, transformed by His Spirit and distinct from the world.

A life that looks like Jesus is a...

A Life that is Surrendered to God

Romans 12:1 ESV
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

“by the mercies of God...”

Our surrender is a response to grace, not an attempt to earn it

“Present your bodies...” = Total surrender, not partial obedience

“Living sacrifice” = allow God to use us for His glory

Reflecting Jesus means yielding our desires, our plans and our pride

The more of self that dies, the more of Christ others can see

A Life that is Shaped by the Word

Romans 12:2 ESV
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

“Don’t be conformed...”

Conformity means being pressed into the world’s mold

The world says “fit in”; Jesus says “stand out”

“Be Transformed...”

Transformation = inner change that shows outwardly

What fills your mind shapes your life

Reflecting Jesus begins in how we think about people, problems and purpose

A Life that is Strengthened to Serve

Romans 12:2 ESV
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Recognize and reflect the will of God

The more time we spend with God, the clearer His purpose becomes

“What pleases God?”

The more you understand God’s will, the more others see Jesus in you
