Saying Goodbye

Resurrection: anastasis in the greek. ana is opposite, stasis is to be still, to stand still. The TDNT “to cause to come forth or arise” or to “come forth, arise”
But its more than just a greek word, ideology or philosophy. The greeks, even with their mythology and beliefs thought Resurrection to be impossible.
But Walt knew it was possible. He knew from the testimonies of so many of Christs disciples, the early church and church through history and his own experience with Christ, that Jesus rose from the dead. Its because of this, Walt, battling cancer, did so without fear. Because he knew -
1 Corinthians 15:42–43 “…The body is sown buried in corruption, it is raised resurrected in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown buried in weakness, it is raised resurrected in power.”
Walt, isn’t resting. He’s worshipping. He is running in glory and power. And those, who like Walt, who have trusted their Lord Jesus and live in Christ, will see him again. Those who have not, will not.
And you cant earn it. The only thing we can earn, is death. Because of our sins, we fall very short of God standard. Literally -
Romans 3:23 “ For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
The wages of this, is death.
Romans 6:23 “ For the wages of sin is death,
Thats a debt we cannot truly pay. Because we see in Hebrews 9:27 “ And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment,” the cost for us to enter into but in our sins, we cannot live with the life of Christ in us. Because this life is eternal.
but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
