Having a Posture of Worship
Having a Posture of Worship
Every promise of God requires a posture—a stance of faith, obedience, and worship.
You can be called to promise, anointed for promise, and even standing in promise, but without the right posture before God, you’ll miss the power to possess it.
David understood that before Israel could advance into promise, the **Ark—the Presence of God—**had to be at the center.
So he restored the posture of worship to the nation. Worship wasn’t background music—it was battle strategy.
“Rise up, take your journey, and begin to possess it…” — Deut. 2:24
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth…” — Josh. 1:8
Victory begins where worship is restored.
Worship positions your heart for God’s power, aligns your focus with His presence, and releases the blessing of the Lord.
Six Elements of Heart of Worship
Six Elements of Heart of Worship
1️⃣ Worship Invokes the Blessing of the Lord
1️⃣ Worship Invokes the Blessing of the Lord
— 1 Chronicles 16:4
David appointed the following Levites to lead the people in worship before the Ark of the Lord—to invoke his blessings, to give thanks, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel.
David knew: when worship goes up, the blessing comes down.
Worship is not manipulation—it’s invitation. It draws the favor of God into your environment.
Worship is heaven’s atmosphere invading earth.
Key Thought:
The sound of worship is a signal to heaven that faith is alive. God blesses what honors Him.
2️⃣ Worship Brings the Presence
2️⃣ Worship Brings the Presence
” — Psalm 22:3
Yet you are holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel.
Praise is not filler—it’s a throne. When you praise, God finds a seat in your situation.
Where worship is neglected, presence is absent; where worship is restored, presence returns.
Application:
Make your home a sanctuary. Praise builds a throne for God to dwell in your family, your finances, your future.
3️⃣ Worship Is Our Acknowledgment of God
3️⃣ Worship Is Our Acknowledgment of God
— 1 Chronicles 16:29
Give to the Lord the glory he deserves!
Bring your offering and come into his presence.
Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.
Worship says, “God, You are here, You are holy, and You are worthy.”
It separates your singing from performance—your posture from routine.
It’s not just a song on your lips, but surrender in your heart.
Quote:
“Worship is not about music—it’s about majesty.
Worship is our Acknowledgement of God
Worship is our Acknowledgement of God
Worship is posture of the Heart-
Because it comes from the heart it separates the songs we sing the words we declare from it just being a concert
Give to the Lord the glory he deserves!
Bring your offering and come into his presence.
Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.
All His holy Splendor
The Heart of Worship- 6 Aspects of Worship that flow ing the Life of a Worshiper
The Heart of Worship- 6 Aspects of Worship that flow ing the Life of a Worshiper
On that day David gave to Asaph and his fellow Levites this song of thanksgiving to the Lord:
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.
Let the whole world know what he has done.
Sing to him; yes, sing his praises.
Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Exult in his holy name;
rejoice, you who worship the Lord.
Search for the Lord and for his strength;
continually seek him.
Remember the wonders he has performed,
his miracles, and the rulings he has given,
you children of his servant Israel,
you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones.
1. Thanks Giving- Give Thanks
1. Thanks Giving- Give Thanks
Thanksgiving is the Langauge of FAith
God gives us reason to be thankful
Then on that day David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the Lord by Asaph and his brothers.
Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples!
It’s gratitude that speaks—thanksgiving is praise expressed.
Thanks giving is gratitude expressed to the Lord
You can praise God before the answer- because Praise invokes the Blessing of the Lord
Jehoshaphat Praised God in advance
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.
Let the whole world know what he has done.
Faith praises while the walls are still Standing
Faith Praise while the Storms still blowing
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Thanksgiving is our weapon against worry
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
2. Proclaim His greatness
2. Proclaim His greatness
Worship is not silent. It’s a public proclamation of God’s greatness.
I will exalt you, my God and King,
and praise your name forever and ever.
I will praise you every day;
yes, I will praise you forever.
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
No one can measure his greatness.
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts;
let them proclaim your power.
I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor
and your wonderful miracles.
Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;
I will proclaim your greatness.
Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness;
they will sing with joy about your righteousness.
When we tell of His greatness, we hand off faith to the next generation.
The world boasts of its strength—but we boast in the Lord!
Declare it:
“The Lord is great and greatly to be praised!”
3. Sing His Praises
3. Sing His Praises
We praise Because of what He has done
Praise is exclamation of the great things God has done
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom he has redeemed from trouble
Tell of the Great things God has Done
Sing to him; yes, sing his praises.
Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Israel when after the Red Sea Ex 15:1-3
Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying,
“I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;
the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.
The Lord is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
The Lord is a man of war;
the Lord is his name.
Singing is not optional—it’s obedience.
Every note sung in faith becomes warfare in the spirit.
When Israel sang after the Red Sea (Exodus 15), they were declaring:
“The LORD is a man of war; the LORD is His name.”
Note:
You can’t sing defeat and expect victory.
Sing the song of triumph until your soul believes what your spirit already knows.
4. Exult His Holy name
4. Exult His Holy name
“Glory in His Holy Name”-
We proclaim the greatness of our God
Who is like the Lord
Praise the Lord!
Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord.
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
now and forever.
Everywhere—from east to west—
praise the name of the Lord.
For the Lord is high above the nations;
his glory is higher than the heavens.
Who can be compared with the Lord our God,
who is enthroned on high?
Glory in the name of the Lord
Everywhere from east to west, the Name of the Lord deserves praise.
When you exalt His Name, you dethrone fear.
The enemy loses his grip when Jesus’ Name is magnified.
5. Rejoice
5. Rejoice
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Rejoicing is a decision, not a reaction.
Paul and Silas rejoiced in prison, and the ground shook
when is the right time to Rejoice?
Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!
Principle:
Joy is not the absence of struggle—it’s the evidence of presence.
Even in tears, we can rejoice because “the Lord has done great things for us” (Psalm 126:3).
“Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5
Rejoice because restoration is coming. Joy is prophetic—it looks ahead to what God is about to do.
Rejoicing in the Lord can happen at any moment!
Cause Rejoice means to be happy-
Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
Joy in the midst of sorrow is the most backwards thing, yet it is exactly what we have - Because we can rejoice in the God of Our Salvation
“Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad”
He gives reason to rejoice
He gives reason to rejoice
He Restores!
A Song of Ascents.
When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then they said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
The Lord has done great things for us;
we are glad.
Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
like streams in the Negeb!
Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
He who goes out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
bringing his sheaves with him.
David say in Psalm 144:15
Yes, joyful are those who live like this!
Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord.
6. Search for the Lord
6. Search for the Lord
“Continually seek Him.”
How could you not seek Him
True worshipers never stop their pursuit of God
Search for the Lord and for his strength;
continually seek him.
The true worshiper never stops pursuing. Worship is not a Sunday event; it’s a lifestyle of seeking.
To seek God continually is to say, “There’s always more of You to know.”
If God promises me more then I run this race to gain all that He has
Deeper place of revelation
7. Remember the Wonders he has performed
7. Remember the Wonders he has performed
Worship doesn’t let the enemy steal your testimonies
Remember what God has done leads to faith for the future and opens the door to greater testimonies
Testimonies are remembrance of the Great things God has Done
But then I recall all you have done, O Lord;
I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.
They are constantly in my thoughts.
I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.
Testimony fuels worship.
When you remember what He’s done, faith rises for what He’ll do again.
David didn’t face Goliath with new faith—he remembered the lion and the bear.
Worship is remembrance wrapped in reverence.
God responds to our Worship
God responds to our Worship
We can get the attention of the Lord
1 Chron 17- It is God’s response to David’s worship
God tells David- 1 Chron 17:7-8
“Now go and say to my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has declared: I took you from tending sheep in the pasture and selected you to be the leader of my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies before your eyes. Now I will make your name as famous as anyone who has ever lived on the earth!
God’s response to a life of Worship is to cause them to have more worship!
starting from the time I appointed judges to rule my people Israel. And I will defeat all your enemies.
“ ‘Furthermore, I declare that the Lord will build a house for you—a dynasty of kings! For when you die and join your ancestors, I will raise up one of your descendants, one of your sons, and I will make his kingdom strong. He is the one who will build a house—a temple—for me. And I will secure his throne forever.
Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? And this was a small thing in your eyes, O God. You have also spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have shown me future generations, O Lord God! And what more can David say to you for honoring your servant? For you know your servant. For your servant’s sake, O Lord, and according to your own heart, you have done all this greatness, in making known all these great things. There is none like you, O Lord, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. And who is like your people Israel, the one nation on earth whom God went to redeem to be his people, making for yourself a name for great and awesome things, in driving out nations before your people whom you redeemed from Egypt? And you made your people Israel to be your people forever, and you, O Lord, became their God. And now, O Lord, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house be established forever, and do as you have spoken, and your name will be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel’s God,’ and the house of your servant David will be established before you. For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. Therefore your servant has found courage to pray before you. And now, O Lord, you are God, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you, for it is you, O Lord, who have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”
Worship opens the door to greater blessing, which in turn leads to greater worship.
Worship opens the door to greater blessing, which in turn leads to greater worship.
