Reading of the Word

Song of Songs 6:4-7:13

The Holy Woman

Look at the wondrous description of the woman

See how the woman is set apart, above and beyond, queens and concubines

The Delicious Woman

Look at the language describing the man tasting the woman

Taste leads to pleasure and joy

Contrast with off-putting taste which brings disgust

The woman is not simply delicious -> she is the most delicious

There is no better wine [7:9], there are no choicer fruits [7:13], and her body produces infinite wine [7:2]

Transition Statement:

The holy, delicious woman brings the groom an exclusive, unique, and infinite joy

The Holy Church

Christ has Come for a Holy People

But we are not holy

Christ has Come to make us a Holy People

And our holiness leads to something

The Delicious Church

The Holy Spirit now works in us to bring about delicious fruit

Outro

Christ delights in you, and He calls you to delight in Him.

Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Fasting reveals our need.
Feasting reveals what we have received.
