So the author we don’t know
the audience is someone who knows the Old Testament
It is called a book to the Hebrews
so it stands to reason that this book is for the newly converted Jews
or maybe Jewish priests because they have been relying on obeying the law to get into the Kingdom
and all of the Old Testament rituals and sacrifices
so why do we need to study this book?
let’s remember what we have learned in the past
But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became a partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree,
so know that those who are of faith, those are sons of Abraham.
So, because of our faith in our Saviour Jesus
we have been grafted in and we are considered a son of Abraham
so, with that said. if you are a child of God, you are a Hebrew
you have the Old Testament scriptures
until the Holy Spirit regenerated you you were trying to get to Heaven by obeying the law
so, the book of Hebrews is written to you
the book written to show us that
Jesus is Superior
Jesus is Superior

Christ is “better than the angels” (
The Bible Exposition Commentary Chapter One: Is Anybody Listening? (Hebrews 1:1–3)
Another word that is repeated in this book is perfect; in the original Greek it is used fourteen times. It means a perfect standing before God. This perfection could never be accomplished by the levitical priesthood (
another word that is used over and over is the word eternal
Jesus is better than our old way of life
Jesus gives us a perfect standing before God the Father
and this life is eternal

God
This book starts with God
there is no debate
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
the agnostic the atheist it does not matter that they don’t believe in God
God speaks to us. He did not have to
it is purely Gods grace to us that He tells us about himself
we before he saved us were sinners who hated God
we were destined to hell deservedly
God could have at anytime killed us for our rebellion to him and opened up the earth and swallow us into the lake of fire at any time
but He was gracious to us and He revealed Himself to us with His plan of redemption
God has revealed Himself through the fathers and prophets
through Moses, David, Solomon, Ezra, Isaiah, Daniel, Haggai and many others
God has progressively over time has revealed different thing about Himself and what He requires.
God in His sovereignty has used many ways an people
in His infinite ways He has not had one way only of speaking to us what He wants us to know
God spoke to Moses in the burning bush on top of mt. Sinai, spoke to him face to face
spoke to Zechariah through vision and dreams
the beginning the world was perfect then sin entered and the world was cursed
the end of the book the world is perfect again
the whole middle is getting back to this perfection
all of these authors and books have one theme
they have the unfolding revelation of God’s redemptive plan
but the Old Covenant was not good enough
no one in the old Testament was saved because they were able to keep this old covenant
so there had to be a better way
and this way is Jesus
V 2
it ends with the revelation of Jesus and how He will conquer and set up His kingdom on earth that Adam gave up
All of the revelation from God is complete
God will not say any more than is what He has given to us in His word the Bible
there has been some later day so called prophets that had given to us some false additions to Gods word like the book of Mormon
the watch tower of the JW
other false prophets have started cults saying God spoke to me, and this other way is what we are suppose to do
God’s Word ended with the book of revelation
written by John as he received it from Jesus
this same as who the Father created the world through
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
For in Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
Jesus is the creator of the angels and not another angel like the JWs want to make out
these angels were created by Jesus for His purposes
the God of creation is also the God of redemption
Jesus created us knowing that He would have to suffer horribly to redeem us
this is how deep the Fathers love is for us
so why bother
we dont think about this enough
a God who who’s love and grace choses to speaks to us
reveals many things about Himself
Who created us and redeemed us through His son dying to save us
lets close by singing how great the Fathers love for us
