Command #6 - Thou shalt not kill
Command #6 - Thou shalt not kill
Illustration: Taking animals lives… taking human life, is it wrong?
Q: What’s the difference? Why is it wrong to kill someone else? (Made in God’s image)
6 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
Explain the “image of God” conxept
Do you ever see dogs come up in church and sing praises to God?
We have a soul that wants to worship God
Have you ever seen an Ourangatan write out its life goals?
Like God, we have a will
Because of all these things, it is wrong to kill someone.
Jesus goes even further
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Command #7 - Tou shalt not commit adultery
Command #7 - Tou shalt not commit adultery
This command is all about faithfulness. We all make promises in our lives, big and small ones, and God wants us to keep all the promises we make. Marriage is the biggest promise we could ever make. You mom and dad made a promise to each other that they would always be faithful to one another until they died.
Q: Now imagine if your dad broke that promise and left your mom alone. How would you feel?
None of you guys are married and you won’t be for a long while, but do we still make promises to people?
Tell me some promises that we make with friends, family, and God.
Command #8 - Thou shalt not steal
Command #8 - Thou shalt not steal
Q: Can you explain to me what stealing is?
Taking something that is not yours without permission
