Notes
Transcript

We reflect Jesus best when we think like He thinks, serve like He served and live like He lived

The Church must have the “same mind”

Philippians 2:1–2 ESV
1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

Reflecting Jesus to the world starts with reflecting unity in the Church

Philippians 2:3–4 ESV
3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

A proud Christian cannot clearly reflect a humble Savior

When we put others first, the world sees Jesus in us
Philippians 2:5 NKJV
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
How do we have the same mind as Christ?

Think Humbly

Philippians 2:6 ESV
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,

Serve Willingly

Philippians 2:7 ESV
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

Let go of privilege

You cannot reflect Jesus when you are full of yourself

Obey Fully

Philippians 2:8 ESV
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Obedience without limits...

Glory always follows humility and obedience

Philippians 2:9–11 ESV
9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

When we reflect Christ through obedience, we lead others to recognize and worship Him

Our obedience is not about our reputation; its about Jesus’ exaltation

A life of Christian obedience points others to Jesus
