Exodus 2:23-25

23 And it came to pass in the process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. 24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.

We have established that each time we bend our knees in prayer or lift our hands in appreciation to God, np matter how short the time may be, something happens. God responds each time we call on Him, Rev. 8:3-5. Even a no from God is an answer.

Today, we shall be looking at the

PURPOSE AND POWER OF THANKSGIVING. Psm 103:1-5

We need to understand why we give thanks and what happens when we give thanks and appreciation..

Thanksgiving is one of the most crucial virtues of a Christian life. 1 Thes. 5:18. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. There is something to thank God for in the midst of everything.

PURPOSE OF THANKSGIVING

1. To show that we can see what God is doing on our behalf: If you have not seen what God has done for you and others, you will never be in a position to see what God will do. Psm103:2-5

2. To show that we are not taking what God is doing for granted. Psm 107:1-3

3. To show that we are not forgetting what God is doing. Psm 103:2

4. To show that our strength, wisdom, ability, and resources were not responsible for what we are seeing. Zech. 4:6

5. To confirm our total dependence on the help and mercy of God for all things.

6. To give the glory to the only one to whom all glory belongs.

7. To confirm our faith in the continuous intervention of God in our affairs.

POWER OF THANKSGIVING

1. It confirms and establishes the continuous defeat and failure of the enemy in the affairs of our lives. Psm 103:1-5, Rev.12:11.

Thanksgiving is a testimony addressed to God.

2. It is the expression of our faith for continuous Divine intervention and manifestation. 1sam. 17:34-37.

3. Thanksgiving is the activation of the next phase of Divine intervention.

Luke 17:12-19. Your thanksgiving today qualifies you for your miracle of tomorrow. Thanksgiving is an application for more blessings. The starting point for effective thanksgiving is learning how to appreciate men for their help and intervention in your life. If you don't know how to thank men, you will not know how to thank God acceptably.

Entitlement mentality is a major enemy of thanksgiving. God owes you nothing.

Nobody owes you anything. Appreciate the little help anyone can render and see it as a privilege and not your entitlement

Glory to God. Happy new week.

Have a wonderful week full of His blessings in Jesus' name, amen.
