1 John 1.
The Beloved Disciple of Jesus, the Apostle John, continues, as an extension of his Gospel, three shorter letters and finally the Climatic book of the NT-
The Revelation of Jesus Christ.
Many modern Scholars have introduced doubt as to the authorship of all five letters.
Their main concern appears to be that there is such a varied writing style between the letters, that they could not have been written by the same person.
However, the one thing that these same Modern Scholars fail to accept- Is the very thing that made these letters acceptable to the earliest of church councils as Holy Canon-
Let’s allow the Scripture to speak for itself-
2 Peter 1:21 ESV
For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 Timothy 3:16 ESV
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Hebrews 1:1–2 ESV
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, But in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
1 Corinthians 2:13 ESV
And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
Jeremiah 1:9 ESV
Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
The very real influence of the Holy Spirit on ordinary men to do Extraordinary things and to...
...Write Holy inspired Words of encouragement and deep revelation-
The very words of God- Written by the very Hand of God
So, regardless of who wrote them- These sacred words remain the Holy Inspired Words of God.
In a continued theme from recent passages,
John put special emphasis on calling all followers of Christ to maintain fellowship with one another.
Eternal life through Christ, should be encouraging for all believers.
Embracing the transformative power and grace of a life well lived in the name of Christ.
This should serve as a constant reminder that we are to live lives that reflect the Glory of God in everything that we do or say.
All the while, keeping a standard of Godly humility in all of our interaction with those around us, in the community.
Everything that we do is for God’s glory- And none for ourselves.
Always reenforcing the truth, that the more we reflect Jesus in our daily lives-
We bring to light the change that has come over us- By Gods Great Grace.
That Great Grace, invites us to fellowship with the Creator of the universe,
Reveals Gods Nature and Character- Also provides the means of washing us of our sins.
As John highlighted in his previous gospel:
John 1:1 ESV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
This Word of Life is a constant revelation of the deeper things of Gods Word, drawing us into an ever-deepening relationship, that provides us the strength and endurance to live Holy lives in a very unholy society.
So let’s dive in and find the context of how all these elements hold relevance and application in today’s world and our own neighborhoods.

1- Seeing the Word

1 John 1:1–3 ESV
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— The life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
John breaks down this letter into very simple terms:
Based on his Gospel-
That which was from the Beginning John 1:1-2
John 1:1–2 ESV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
That Life was made manifest-
John 1:4–5 ESV
In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
That which we have seen and heard- We proclaim-
John 20:30–31 ESV
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
