Asherah pole - An Asherah pole was a sacred wooden object used in the worship of the Canaanite goddess Asherah, often symbolizing fertility and motherhood. The Old Testament condemns their use, describing them as idolatrous symbols that were erected alongside altars to other gods. The poles themselves were sometimes crudely carved tree trunks, and their worship was frequently linked with practices like ritual prostitution and child sacrifice.
Baal - Baal was a Canaanite fertility and storm god that the Israelites repeatedly worshipped, leading to much conflict with God.This worship involved sexual rituals, child sacrifice, and building temples and altars, which the biblical narrative portrays as a grave sin and a direct challenge to the worship of Yahweh.
