Now lets look at what the text says. Zacchaus. I need to be with you
its the imperative nature of his statement that leaves a clue of the gravity of the matter.
No guest before presented himself at the front door of a house and said, and i quote “ I must dine with you today”
how crucial is the encounter! How vital is the reception! theses are the two elements i want to expound on. im here. I must be here . thats my place to be
thats all i have in mind. but already the questions start forming:
who are sitting at your table currently?
if any, when last did you dine with the Lord. Supper with the Lord. how many people/
What happens when He dines?
does anything change at all?
what is the significance of letting Him in?
We are intelligent oh yes , meeting him is what speaks to our existence i think
TO what shall we compare it? a life changed by exposure more than by instruction thats the key
Also, we have to ask ourselves, what is the value of a life without him? to what end do we labour and store up things on earth?
Looking at the development of the text, we see clearly the one moving towards, the one orienting his steps in the direction of the one who is rejected.
