Scripture Invitation
Scripture Invitation
As we get ready to hear God’s Word, I want you to listen close to Paul’s letter to the Colossians, chapter three, verses twenty-two through twenty-four. We’re talking about “Good-Bye Work Drama.”
Bible Passage
Bible Passage
Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.
Introduction
Introduction
Life at work can feel like a battlefield, but God’s got a better way.
Back in Bible days, fpeople worked in some hard places—sweatshops and fields, not the luxury corner offices that we occupy today.
Paul writes from his prison cell and says, “Work like God Himself is your supervisor.”
He tells us: “Your check might have the boss’s name, but your purpose is stamped by God.”
Rome said, ‘Obey your boss,’
but Paul said, ‘Serve your King!’
Somebody in here tonight needs that same turnaround.
Application
Application
Let’s be real—sometimes your cubicle or office space feels like a cage.
Sometimes your toolbox feels like a trap.
Sometimes your classroom feels like a war zone.
But hear me people of God: God gave you purpose for that place.
That’s what keeps your heart beating in a hard job.
When you know Who put you there, no boss can take you out of God’s plan.
When examine the word of God we find people like Joseph who went from being the favorite son to cleaning prison floors, but every sweep got him closer to the palace.
We find Daniel whose coworkers tried to get him fired, but God gave him favor.
We see Nehemiah who built a wall while haters talked, but he kept on working, saying, “I’m doing a great job. I cannot come down!”
Drama isn’t just in the office—it’s in the spiritual world, too.
The devil loves break rooms!
So when I get ready for work, I show up prayed up, praised up, and powered up.
I don’t fight petty with petty—I fight pressure with prayer.
I don’t clap back—I clap my hands in worship.
I don’t gossip at the water cooler—I drink from the well that never runs dry.
Your past doesn’t decide your future, but your attitude sets your altitude.
Clock in with character.
Clock out with integrity.
Pin Colossians 3 to your work badge—work hard, walk right, and stay humble.
Turn your desk into a pulpit, your wrench into a witness, your lesson plan into a worship.
Somebody’s watching how you handle the boss who steals your ideas, or the coworker who blames you for their mess.
Turn your sighs into songs.
Let every deadline bring a deliverance.
Let every meeting become a miracle.
Work heartily, Walk holy, & Win Humbly.
When anxiety tries to work overtime, tell yourself:
“My peace has already clocked in.”
Grace is the anti-virus for toxic culture; install it, update it, and share it.
Clock in with character; clock out with credibility.
Let the office politics rage.
Let the quotas stack up.
Let the critics talk.
We need to choose excellence over excuses, diligence over drama, and worship over worry.
Because the one I really serve is the Lord, not my manager’s moods.
My real promotion comes from God—it’s already signed, sealed, and delivered in Jesus’ name!
