John 8:28-29 Jesus told them they would know who he was when they crucify him.
He told them he would not be alone
When he said why have you forsaken me, why did the rulers not mock him and ask where his father is now?
Because they knew he was quoting Psalm 22 and saw it played out before them.
Which is what Luke 23:48 clearly indicates
It is indeed something else. He is indeed doing something else. That something else is fulfilling scripture and showing signs and wonders. He is giving the signs to the rulers that he promised them when they asked for a sign to prove that he is sent from above.

"Then the Jews, the elders, and the Jewish priests, knowing what evil they did to themselves began to beat their breasts saying, 'Woe to us for the judgment and the end of Jerusalem are at hand!'" The Gospel According to Peter
Pseudepigrapha - "forged writings"
Matthew starts with Satan "if you are the son of God" and ends with same saying at the cross.
Mark starts with Son of God and ends with Centurion claiming the same. Also states all scripture to be fulfilled before crucifixion account.
Last saying on cross is a quote from Psalm 31:5 into your hands I commit my spirit
John 5:19 “whatever the Father does that the Son does likewise" so did Jesus forsake himself?
Five Solas
The Five Solas are five Latin phrases (or slogans) that emerged from the Protestant Reformation intended to summarize the Reformers' basic theological principles in contrast to certain teachings of the Roman Catholic Church of the day. "Sola" is Latin meaning "alone" or "only" and the corresponding phrases are:
Sola Fide, by faith alone.
Sola Scriptura, by Scripture alone.
Solus Christus, through Christ alone.
Sola Gratia, by grace alone.
Soli Deo Gloria, glory to God alone.
These phrases may be found individually expressed in the various writings of the 16th century Reformers, either explicitly or implicitly, but they are not found presented as a list per se. It is most likely the list of Solas came about later.
