In life have you everfelt overwhelmed?
Workload, To do lists, expectations, Noise, pressure, children, family, unfulfilled,dreams, bills, money, loss, trauma, hurt, pain, injury broken trust, relationships, desire, to have what you can’t.
Truth be told, I hear you, I feel you and for us this summer has felt overwhelming. It started in June

As of old upon the shores of the Red Sea the people gave thanks as one man for their miraculous deliverance, so now they give thanks once more. As upon that occasion the dominant motive of their song was the realisation that to Jehovah alone they owed their deliverance, so now it is again (vv. 14, 23)

This could considered a praise palsam or thanksgiving psalm, concludes the collection Egytpian Hallel
The Hallel (meaning “to praise” in Hebrew) is a collection of biblical psalms of praise, specifically Psalms 113-118, known as the “Egyptian Hallel” due to a reference to Egypt in Psalm 114:1[1]. These psalms recounted God’s activity in Israel’s history, beginning with the Exodus, and were sung at principal annual feasts and New Moon celebrations. During the Passover Seder, Psalms 113-114 were sung before the meal, and Psalms 115-118 were sung after the meal[2]. The Hallel was chanted on various festival days, with an impressive ritual where Levites would chant the psalms verse by verse, and people would respond with verses or Hallelujahs, often accompanied by flute players[3].
Significantly, the Egyptian Hallel served to reaffirm the community’s faith in the Mosaic covenant. It emphasized monotheistic worship, rejected idolatry, and drew upon the formula of divine grace, with the people confessing their faith in God’s enduring love and faithfulness[4]. Regardless of the exact dating of these psalms, they were placed in the Psalter to encourage exiles returning to Jerusalem, helping them celebrate God’s grace and faithfulness through festivals[5].
This psalm begins by using the common refrain his love endures for ever.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;

his love endures forever

Petterson in the Message put’s it like this

118 Thank GOD because he’s good,

because his love never quits.

Tell the world, Israel,

“His love never quits.”

And you, clan of Aaron, tell the world,

“His love never quits.”

And you who fear GOD, join in,

“His love never quits.”

25 LORD, save us!

LORD, grant us success!

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.

From the house of the LORD we bless you.

Salvation now, GOD. Salvation now!

Oh yes, GOD—a free and full life!

26–29  Blessed are you who enter in GOD’s name—

from GOD’s house we bless you!

“Broken Hearts you will restore, Reclaiming them as your own.
Washed up on the open shore, Oh the tide is bringing lost souls home”
Home, where Your heart is, Home, safe within the arms of love, Your Home, here you’ll find purpose to your days, an Anchor in the waves, Home”
Here you are loved, and here you belong
Here you are loved, come join in the Song”
Colin Stitt Music, 2019
The Worship Exchange…
Changes in the atmosphere in physical places and spaces, but ultimately in the state of our heart. It places our circumstances in context, seasons it with grace, and enables us to lift our eyes off our selves and (unto the Hills) we can lift our head, from the shame, suffering, trauma that we have sufferred. To the visions and dreams God have spoken that may have felt dead, forgotten or lost and yet not come to back. The hurt and the pain of circumstances, or trauma that comes from loss, or pain inflicted on us.
There’s just something about the presence of God.
You could search “the world” or “eternity long” as two song writers put it…
“Have Faith, Have Faith, In the one who the wind and waves obey
Have Faith, Have faith, in the one who is able and making a way, Have Faith”
Colin Stitt Music 2023

1–4  118 Thank GOD because he’s good,

because his love never quits.

Tell the world, Israel,

“His love never quits.”

And you, clan of Aaron, tell the world,

“His love never quits.”

And you who fear GOD, join in,

“His love never quits.”

5–16  Pushed to the wall, I called to GOD;

from the wide open spaces, he answered.

GOD’s now at my side and I’m not afraid;

who would dare lay a hand on me?

GOD’s my strong champion;

I flick off my enemies like flies.

Far better to take refuge in GOD

than trust in people;

Far better to take refuge in GOD

than trust in celebrities.

Hemmed in by barbarians,

in GOD’s name I rubbed their faces in the dirt;

Hemmed in and with no way out,

in GOD’s name I rubbed their faces in the dirt;

Like swarming bees, like wild prairie fire, they hemmed me in;

in GOD’s name I rubbed their faces in the dirt.

I was right on the cliff-edge, ready to fall,

when GOD grabbed and held me.

GOD’s my strength, he’s also my song,

and now he’s my salvation.

Hear the shouts, hear the triumph songs

in the camp of the saved?

“The hand of GOD has turned the tide!

The hand of GOD is raised in victory!

The hand of GOD has turned the tide!”

17–20  I didn’t die. I lived!

And now I’m telling the world what GOD did.

GOD tested me, he pushed me hard,

but he didn’t hand me over to Death.

Swing wide the city gates—the righteous gates!

I’ll walk right through and thank GOD!

This Temple Gate belongs to GOD,

so the victors can enter and praise.

21–25  Thank you for responding to me;

you’ve truly become my salvation!

The stone the masons discarded as flawed

is now the capstone!

This is GOD’s work.

We rub our eyes—we can hardly believe it!

This is the very day GOD acted—

let’s celebrate and be festive!

Salvation now, GOD. Salvation now!

Oh yes, GOD—a free and full life!

26–29  Blessed are you who enter in GOD’s name—

from GOD’s house we bless you!

GOD is God,

he has bathed us in light.

Festoon the shrine with garlands,

hang colored banners above the altar!

You’re my God, and I thank you.

O my God, I lift high your praise.

Thank GOD—he’s so good.

His love never quits!

Predicatable and unescapable…
Faithful

7 Where can I go from your Spirit?

Where can I flee from your presence?

8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;

if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,

if I settle on the far side of the sea,

10 even there your hand will guide me,

your right hand will hold me fast.

Jeremiah 31:3

3 The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying:

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;

I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Isaiah 54:10 NIV
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
Psalm 103:11–12 NIV
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Romans 8:35–39 NIV
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The tide is turning, do you believe it…

This is the very day GOD acted—

let’s celebrate

For some here this morning, your like Jonah in the Bible, you ran away… For some you are still running But you can’t out run God’s love…
The tide is turning and he’s calling you home.
And for some God has been speaking to you, but you don’t know him, God has been calling you, but you didn’t recognise it was his voice… He’s bee
