“What does it mean to be a slave?”

-A slave is any person specifically and individually subject to another human being.

Slave in Greek=Doulos

Doulos=Servant in english translations

-Slaves of Christ ~ New Testament

-Phil 1:1

-2 Pet 1:1

-James 1:1

-Titus 1:1

-Rev 1:1

(Translators translated the word from slave to servant)

There are 6 different Greek Words for servant and doulos is not one of them.

Servants serve a master.

Slaves are bought and owned by one master.

-Matt 6:24

“Why do people in America not like the idea of being called a slave?”

A lot of us don’t respect the Lord enough.

We call him our “best friend” or “savior” but ignore the Lord part.

The aspects of slavery match our redemption through Christ

Chosen- Eph 1:4-5

Bought- 1 Cor 6:19-20 1 Cor 7:23

Owned by our master- Rom 14:7-9

Subject to the masters will over us- Acts 5:29 Rom 6:16-19

Totally dependent on our masters- 2 Cor 9:8-11 Phil 4:19

We will be called to give an account- Rom 14:12

Evaluated- 2 Cor 5:10

We will either be chastened or rewarded by him- 1 Cor 3:14 Heb 12:5-11

We must humble ourselves!!!
