“Facing False Views: The Preterist Error vs. God’s Prophetic Truth”

I recently read the book Revelation: Four Views—a work that carefully categorizes and compares the four major belief systems about end-time prophecy.
Only one of those views takes the Book of Revelation at face value.
Before I continue, I want to say something important:
👉 Many sincere, Bible-believing Christians hold different prophetic views.
👉 We are not called to argue endlessly over these views.
👉 We are called to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost.
That being said, we also must stand for truth.
One of the most common non-literal approaches is the Preterist View.
This view teaches that most or all end-time events already happened in the early church era.
They claim Jesus’ coming in the clouds refers to the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.
They identify Nero as the Beast and Babylon as Jerusalem.
They say the Roman Empire fulfills the prophetic government.
In other words, they interpret most of Revelation as past history, not future prophecy.
But here’s the problem: The Preterist view guts the future hope of the church.
📖 Revelation 1:3 says, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.”
This verse alone reveals that Revelation is a prophecy — not a mere historical narrative.
📖 Matthew 24:21 speaks of a “great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.”
This hasn’t happened yet. Nothing in A.D. 70 matches that magnitude.
📖 Acts 1:11 clearly states Jesus will return “in the same way” He ascended—visibly, physically, and gloriously. Not metaphorically.
I hold a premillennial, pre-tribulation, Futurist view, and I believe Scripture should be taken literally whenever possible.
The other views rely heavily on symbolism and human imagination—but God gave us prophecy to reveal, not to confuse.
📖 2 Timothy 3:16–17 reminds us, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
God’s Word interprets itself. His plan is not hidden in mystery—it’s unfolding in plain sight for those who believe.
The Preterist view removes the believer’s anticipation of the blessed hope — the literal, physical return of Jesus Christ.
📖 Titus 2:13 calls this “the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Don’t let false interpretations rob you of that hope.
This world is not all there is. Jesus is coming again. And when He does, it won’t be symbolic. It will shake the heavens and the earth.
This is Part 1 of our 7-part series — standing for the truth of Bible prophecy.
Revelation 1:3 NKJV
Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
Matthew 24:21 NKJV
For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Acts 1:11 NKJV
who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
2 Timothy 3:16–17 NKJV
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Titus 2:13 NKJV
looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

New Series: “Facing False Views — The Preterist Error vs. God’s Prophetic Truth”
Many claim that the prophecies of Revelation already happened in A.D. 70.
But God’s Word is clear: the Great Tribulation hasn’t happened yet, and Jesus is coming again literally, not symbolically.
Revelation 1:3 calls it a prophecy, not a history book.
Acts 1:11 promises a visible return of Jesus.
Titus 2:13 calls it our blessed hope.
This is Part 1 of a 7-part series where we’ll stand firm on the literal, prophetic truth of Scripture.
The future is not left to imagination—it’s written in the Word.

Facing False Views — The Preterist Error vs. God’s Prophetic Truth

I recently read the book Revelation: Four Views, which compares four major end-time belief systems. What stood out immediately is that only one of these views takes the book at face value—the literal, Futurist view.
The Preterist View claims that the end-time events already happened in A.D. 70 with the destruction of Jerusalem:
Jesus “coming in the clouds” = destruction of Jerusalem.
Nero = the Beast.
Babylon = Jerusalem.
Roman Empire = prophetic government.
But Scripture paints a different picture.
Revelation 1:3 calls this a prophecy.
Matthew 24:21 speaks of a tribulation unlike anything the world has seen.
Acts 1:11 tells us Jesus will return just as He ascended—physically and visibly.
Titus 2:13 gives us the Blessed Hope of His glorious appearing.
The Preterist view removes the future hope of the church, but God’s Word gives us clarity, not confusion. We don’t build doctrine on imagination or symbolism; we stand on the literal truth of the Bible.
This is Part 1 of a 7-part series where we’ll uncover false views and build a strong, scriptural foundation for understanding the End Times.

Declaration

“I stand on the Word of God as my final authority.
I believe in the literal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ.
I will not be swayed by man’s imagination or symbolism.
I fix my eyes on the Blessed Hope — the coming King.
My faith rests on God’s promises, not on theories.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the clarity of Your Word. Thank You for revealing the end from the beginning. Help me to stand firm in Your truth and not be shaken by false interpretations. Give me a discerning heart and a bold voice to share the hope of Jesus’ return. Fill me with expectancy and faith as I await the Blessed Hope. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
