“Do You Know About Jesus… or Truly Know Him?”

Philippians 3:8–11 NKJV
Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Short Video Script (4–7 Minutes)

There’s a massive difference between knowing about Jesus and actually knowing Jesus.
Many can quote Scripture. Many go to church. Many say the right words.
But Jesus said something terrifying in Matthew 7:23:
“Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
That means it’s possible to live religious… but never walk in relationship.
Knowing About Jesus Isn’t Enough
You can know about someone without ever truly knowing them.
You can follow Jesus on “social media” — sing the songs, attend the services — but if there’s no intimate relationship, He will say, “I never knew you.”
The Greek word used for “know” speaks of deep, personal, intimate relationship — not surface-level acquaintance.
Paul’s Cry Was Intimacy, Not Information
Paul had it all — education, status, influence. But he said in Philippians 3:8–11:
“Indeed, I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord… that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”
Paul didn’t want to just talk about Jesus — he wanted to walk with Him. To know His heartbeat. To share in His power. To live His Word daily.
Relationship Means Surrender
To truly know Jesus is to let go of everything else that tries to compete for your heart.
He isn’t looking for fans… He’s looking for followers. Disciples. Friends who walk with Him daily.
This means spending time in prayer, in the Word, and listening to His voice.
John 10:27“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
You Can Know Him Today
Jesus isn’t hiding from you. He’s calling you closer.
Whether you’ve been in church your whole life or you’ve never opened a Bible — He wants to know you.
Today can be the day where your faith shifts from routine to relationship.
James 4:8“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
This is the hour to stop living near the fire and start living in the fire.
Don’t settle for knowing about Jesus… know Him.
Know His love. Know His power. Know His voice.
One day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Make sure on that day, He says to you, “Well done,” and not “I never knew you.”
Prayer:
Matthew 7:23 NKJV
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
John 10:27 NKJV
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
James 4:8 NKJV
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

New Message: “Do You Know About Jesus… or Truly Know Him?”
It’s possible to go to church…
To quote Scripture…
To sing worship songs…
And still not truly know Jesus.
Philippians 3:10“That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection.”
This isn’t about religion. It’s about a real, living relationship with the King of Kings.

Do You Know About Jesus… or Truly Know Him?

There’s a sobering passage in Matthew 7:23 where Jesus says, “I never knew you.”
He wasn’t speaking to atheists or pagans — He was speaking to people who claimed to follow Him.
There is a difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus.
You can attend church, read devotionals, and still miss intimacy with Him.
Paul declared in Philippians 3:8–11 that everything else in life was worthless compared to truly knowing Christ.
Jesus longs for intimacy with you — not perfection, but relationship.
He wants to walk with you daily, speak to your heart, and make Himself real to you.
He wants to be more than a distant figure… He wants to be your Savior, Lord, and closest friend.
John 10:27“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
Don’t settle for a surface-level faith. Draw near to Him — and He will draw near to you (James 4:8).

Declaration

“I declare that I will not settle for knowing about Jesus — I will know Him intimately. I will walk with Him, hear His voice, and follow His lead. My relationship with Jesus will be real, personal, and powerful. I am His, and He knows me by name.”

Prayer

Father, Thank You for calling me into deeper relationship with You. Forgive me for the times I’ve settled for religion instead of intimacy. Jesus, I want to know You more — not just in my mind, but in my heart. Draw me closer to Your presence. Speak to me daily. Let my life reflect that I truly walk with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
