Intro: Hot Women vs. Cute Women
There is a social media influencer named Emily King
She has her finger on the pulse of relationships on the internet
She spends most of her time telling women what they are doping wrong when trying to attract men
Lately she has been chronicling Hot Women vs. Cute Women debate
She showed a clip where self-perceived hot girl is frustrated that she is getting asked for her number more at walgreens than at the bar
At walgreens she is in sweats and a ponytail and doesn’t consider herself attractive while at the bar she is at the pinnacle of her beauty
Hot women are supposed to be the ones that all guys are pursuing
The hot ones at bars are the ones that guys are buying drinks for
What a lot of hot girls are realizing is that interest is waning
Men are done playing the games hot girls play and instead are going for cute girls
Because when a guy describes a girl as cute he is saying I like her personality as well as her appearance
There is something Biblical about that
Christian women, no matter what stage of life, should exude an irresistible beauty
Peter lays out six things that constitute irresistible beauty
A happy marriage is a long conversation which always seems too short. Andre Maurois

Submit to Your Husbands vs. 1a

The first trait of irresistible beauty is that they submit to their husbands
There is an inherent beauty in a woman when she fulfills God’s design for marriage
She comes alongside her husband as a helpmate and makes the family stronger
It is a beautiful thing when a husband and wife use their their often contrasting gifts together
Sadly the word Submit has become derogatory
The word translated “subjection” is a military term that means “to place under rank.”
God has a place for everything; He has ordained various levels of authority
Headship is not dictatorship, but the loving exercise of divine authority under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Submission is an obligation

God has commanded it because, in His wisdom, He knows that this is the best arrangement for a happy, fulfilling marriage.
Subjection does not mean that the wife is inferior to the husband.
In fact, in 1 Peter 3:7, Peter made it clear that the husband and wife are “heirs together.”
Submission is an act of obedience unto the Lord
Ephesians 5:22 ESV
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Submission is a struggle because of the fall of man
The first sin destroyed the oneness of couples
Genesis 3:16 ESV
To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.”
When a wife submits to her husbands leadership as she does to the Lord it is a thing of beauty

Win Them by Your Conduct vs. 1b-2

The second trait of irresistible beauty is that they win them over by their conduct
This section is dealing with those women who’s husbands aren’t believers
In the early church many Roman women were drawn to Christianity, but their husbands remained pagans
Peter is telling these women that actions speak louder than words
A Woman’s tendency was to keep bugging them about Jesus and going to church
Peter tells them to win them over with their conduct

Submission is an opportunity

An opportunity for what? To win an unsaved husband to Christ.
God not only commands submission, but He uses it as a powerful spiritual influence in a home.
An unsaved husband will not be converted by preaching or nagging in the home.
The phrase “without the word” does not mean “without the Word of God,” because salvation comes through the Word (John 5:24).
It means “without talk, without a lot of speaking.”
It is the character and conduct of the wife that will win the lost husband—not arguments, but such attitudes as submission, understanding, love, kindness, patience
In a Christian home, we must minister to each other.
A Christian husband must minister to his wife and help to “beautify her” in the Lord (Eph. 5:25–30).
A Christian wife must encourage her husband and help him grow strong in the Lord
I know this section is for the unsaved husband but let me put this out there
If your husband is a believer you actions and conduct will always accomplish more than your words

Be Modest in Your Appearance vs. 3

The third trait of irresistible beauty is that they are modest in their appearance
This is where things get interesting
Much debate has raged over this passage and many denominations still over-interpret this verse and impose heavy requirements on a woman’s dress
Some try to make women look as dour as possible and I think repress their beauty
The word translated “adorning” is kosmos in the Greek, and gives us our English words “cosmos” (the ordered universe) and “cosmetic.”
It is the opposite of chaos.
It means to bring order to chaos
The danger is getting too wrapped up in outward adornments and not giving any attention to the inner beauty
Roman women were captivated by the latest fashions of the day, and competed with each other in dress and hairdos.
It was not unusual for the women to have elaborate coiffures, studded with gold and silver combs and even jewels.
They wore elaborate and expensive garments, all for the purpose of impressing each other

Glamour is artificial and external; true beauty is real and internal

Any husband is proud of a wife who is attractive, but that beauty must come from the heart, not the store.
We are not of this world, but we must not look as though we came from out of this world
1 Timothy 2:9 ESV
likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,
Peter did not forbid the wearing of jewelry any more than the wearing of apparel.
The word “wearing” in 1 Peter 3:3 means “the putting around,” and refers to a gaudy display of jewelry
You can shine your beauty through your modesty
And evidence is pointing to the fact that guys find that more attractive

Exhibit Imperishable Beauty vs. 4

The fourth trait in irresistible beauty is that they exhibit imperishable beauty
Imperishable beauty is inner beauty
Outward appearances fade away no matter how much work you have done
What will always shine forth is an inner beauty
Peter is telling the women to make sure that is shines the brightest
Real beauty comes from the hidden person of the heart.
It isn’t something you wear or primp before a mirror. It is something you are.
The inner beauty of a godly woman is incorruptible.
This means that it does not decay or get worse with age.
Instead, incorruptible beauty only gets better with age, and is therefore of much greater value than the beauty that comes from the hair, jewelry, or clothing.
What are the traits of imperishable beauty? A gentle and quiet spirit
A gentle spirit could be equated with a motherly nature or nurturing spirit
It leads with kindness and care
It’s not combative
A quiet spirit isn’t a silent spirit
A quiet spirit is one that has their voice under control both with volume and content
Too many women today think that if they don’t scream they don’t get heard
Problem is there is so much noise it gets drwoned out
Make people stop and listen to your soft still voice

Hold the Hope of Holy Women vs. 5

The fifth trait in irresistible beauty is that they hold the hope of holy women

Call them Lord

I’m just joking
Always wanted to get too literal with scripture

Do Good & Do Not Fear vs. 6

The final trait in irresistible beauty is that they do good and do not fear
There is nothing more irresistible than seeing your wife doing good and standing strong in the face of fear
Women have a sixth sense when it comes to helping out those in need
They know the right thing to do
God puts it on their heart and they become driven by it
When a woman gets motivated to do something good they are able to mobilize every man in their life to fall in line and they won’t stop until it is accomplished
Where Satan tries to undercut women is through a spirit of fear
So many women have been paralyzed by thoughts and feelings of fear
But under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the protection of their Husbands, women should be able to stand strong in the face of anything that is frightening
We will see how that come about next week when we look at husbands
2 Timothy 1:7 ESV
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
