Psalm 1 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”
The bible is full of metaphors, similes, allegories and other type of figurative language that allows people imagine or paint a picture of something that may need bring context to the idea.
It’s easy and we do it all the time.
Maybe after a big meal you may say man I feel fat like a pig.
Or Maybe after working out you might say I feel strong like an ox
Metaphor: “She’s the heartbeat of my home.” - She gives it life
Simile: “She’s like the sun — everything feels warmer when she’s near.”
Take those 2 home with you for free.
In this case God wanted to tell us something with the imagery.
He says “He is like a tree planted by streams of water. ”
Well who is like a tree planted by streams of water?
Verse 1 tells us: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He talks about about men who are “NOT” planted in the counsel of the wicked
Those people who keep telling him that smoking is not bad
That that getting drunk is ok as long as your with close circles.
I had a coworker that I was on a trip once who told me he doesn’t believe God thinks going to the strip club is wrong I said what?
I know people who tell me that in their work teams go to strip clubs together or share pornographic images to each other.
I went to a conference once in Chicago where vendors whom we spent money with invited me and my coworkers to a strip club where I said nope! Thank you for dinner I’m going back to sleep.
I am not going to be standing in the way of sinners nor sitting in the seat of scoffers!
Be careful who is giving you counsel,
Who is inviting you to places that will lead you to sin.
Be men planted by streams of water.
A tree that is not producing good fruit is not getting all the nutrients it needs.
A Plant needs 4 things
soil
sun
water
carbon dioxide
If it misses any of those it will not survive, or let alone have good fruit.
But if it has the elements it needs to survive and thrive it will have good fruit.
Now sun and carbon dioxide you can get mostly anywhere
This verse leads us to believe there is good soil in order to be planted and so therefore the main focus is the where.
Where a tree is planted is crucial.
This is why “planted by rivers of water” matters — location determines nourishment.
The soil is where your roots go — your faith foundation.
The river is the Word of God and presence of the Spirit, constantly renewing you.
The fruit is your character, your leadership, and the legacy you leave.
You have to ask yourself
“Where am I planted? What’s feeding me?”
Am I close to the presence of God
Am I rooted deep into his Word.
Am I close to Jesus
Will I cave in if I see Bathsheba showering naked?
Will I cave in if I smell weed or that black and mild
Will I be shaken if fear comes knocking.
Will I be moved if I didn’t get what I want
Will I succumb to my temptation?
Will I succumb to the strong winds?
Will I give into anger, jealousy, envy, the flesh?
Being planted near the right source of water is key to being men with good fruit.
Remember it’s not just any fruit.
But good fruit.
Do we have men here who are rooted and planted besides water who will produce good fruit?
Fruitful Men
Fruitful Men
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season,
Interestingly enough it doesn’t say that it may produce fruit but that “IT YIELDS FRUIT” in it’s season,
God designed men to produce — to create, to build, to lead, to provide.
From within you God has give you the ability to produce fruit when your seed lands in fertile soil. (a womans womb)
You see the fruit is not for you, the fruit is for the benefit of others.
It is your legacy
It is your impact on the world
It is your character shown toward people
It is your talents
It is your gifts
It is how you raise your kids
It is how you serve and love your wife.
It is how you serve your community.
Men who are planted by streams of water yield good fruit.
If you were planted in bitterness, your roots will absorb bitterness.
If you were planted in rejection, you’ll struggle to show love.
If you were planted in lust, you’ll bear lustful fruit.
If you were planted near rivers of gossip,
you’ll bear the fruit of division.
If you were planted near rivers of pride,
you’ll bear the fruit of arrogance.
I know that already
If you were planted near rivers of greed,
you’ll bear the fruit of selfishness.
The Hope in Jesus Christ is that he makes all things new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Philippians 1:6 “6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
The Hope: You Can Be Replanted
Tell your neighbor “SHIFT”
If you reject the soil of your past,
and let God uproot you and plant you by His rivers of living water
Then you can begin to bear new fruit.
Fruit of peace instead of anger.
Fruit of love instead of rejection.
Fruit of purity instead of lust.
Fruit of faithfulness instead of fear.
Because when God replants you, He restores your roots and redeems your fruit.
I don’t know how many men God has had to uproot you out of where you were to bear good fruit but I’m a living testimony of that.
The world will tell you that the pattern is ok
That it’s ok to lie to your wife about this one thing because a small lie never hurt anyone
That it’s ok to if you don’t pray every day or read your word.
That it’s ok if you look as long as you don’t touch
That it’s ok to drink your tears away
Or smoke your anxiety away
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
“Do not be conformed” — Don’t let your roots grow in worldly soil (anger, lust, pride, rejection, desperation, hopelessness, laziness).
“Be transformed by the renewal of your mind” — Let God replant you by His living waters; new soil, new nutrients, new fruit.
“Discern what is good” — You begin to recognize and produce good fruit — fruit that reflects God’s character.
This is a moment where we need to give it up to the men who said.
I’m going to be better then my parents who didn’t show good fruit
My surroundings tried to feed me garbage
My environment wasn’t good for my.
My environment growing didn’t value woman like God does but
I’m gong to love my wife
I’m going to love, appreciate and spend time with my kids,
I’m going to let God uproot me and set me near to Him
I’m going to let God produce good fruit through me.
I was planted near waters of destruction but I found a savior or planted me.
How many men are planted by God?
I don’t know how many men having been praying for the Lord to produce good fruit in them.
To be a better husband
To lead with strength, courage, compassion, love, sympathy, grace, and truth.
To show good fruit in their home.
To show good fruit in their workplace, community, in the church
To teach their kids the truth
To teach their children the Gospel.
How many time do we experience when mom have to tell their kids something 10 times and you only have to say it once.
That is the power and authority over our home to be a fruitful man.
And you have the opportunity to be fruitful and impact your children with the truth of Christ.
They need to hear it from you
They need to hear the truth from you
They WANT to hear it maybe the words of validation, affirmation from you!
There are too many men living at home but not being home.
I had a youth once that when I was praying for kids without their fathers raise his hands. The thing is that his father was home but absent.
He was a father that was living there but was not present.
He was not fruitful in his home.
I’ve spoken to fathers that even while living at home they haven’t spoken to their children in months. True Story
What fruit are we bearing men?
We can not let society father our children.
We must endure the trials, we must endure the storms
God wants you to be an enduring man.
Enduring Men
Enduring Men
Rooted Men Can Withstand the Storm
A tree that’s deeply rooted may bend, but it doesn’t break.
The wind can shake its branches, but the roots hold it firm.
In the same way, when a man is rooted in Christ,
he may go through pressure, loss, temptation, or failure,
but he stands because his foundation is firm.
“When the rain falls, when the flood comes, and the wind blows, it will not fall, because it was founded on the Rock.” — Matthew 7:25
Example:
A man who loses his job but doesn’t lose his faith — because his provision isn’t tied to a paycheck, it’s tied to his Provider.
A man who gets told things by people, hurtful words - Still gives more fruit the next year like brother Angel say.
A father who faces family tension but still leads with peace — because his roots are in Christ’s love, not his emotions.
A husband who endures seasons of distance or difficulty in marriage — but stays committed because he’s anchored to covenant, not convenience.
“We are made to bear the weight of our home, but not in our own strength.
A man rooted in Christ can carry that weight because he draws from living water.”
Endurance Is Evidence of Rootedness
A shallow tree looks healthy when the weather is perfect,
but the moment the storm hits, it topples over.
Likewise, a man who looks strong but isn’t rooted in God’s Word will not last when life hits hard.
Example:
Samson had strength, but not roots in obedience — and he fell.
So don’t try to look strong but not worry about your roots.
Make sure you’re rooted in devotion and time with the Lord
David endured through betrayal, loss, and pain — because his roots were in worship and repentance.
“Your ability to endure reveals what you’re rooted in.”
Fruit in Every Season
“So that in every season God needs us, we will produce good fruit.”
A rooted man doesn’t just bear fruit when everything is going right —
he bears fruit in every season.
In the dry seasons, he bears the fruit of faith.
In the stormy seasons, he bears the fruit of patience.
In the waiting seasons, he bears the fruit of trust.
In the harvest seasons, he bears the fruit of gratitude.
“They will still bear fruit in old age; they will stay fresh and green.” — Psalm 92:14
Example:
Job lost everything but still said, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”
Joseph was betrayed, enslaved, and imprisoned — yet still bore fruit in every place God planted him.
Because when your roots are in the River of Life, your fruit doesn’t depend on the season, it depends on the Source.
Prosperous Men
Prosperous Men
True Prosperity Begins with the Right Planting
True Prosperity Begins with the Right Planting
Prosperity doesn’t begin with money — it begins with placement.
Where you are planted determines what you produce.
If you’re planted in God’s presence, His Word, and His will,
then your life begins to bear fruit that cannot be shaken or stolen.
Prosperity Flows From Fruitfulness and Endurance
Your prosperity depends on three things:
Where you are planted — your connection to Christ.
The fruit you bear — your character, influence and impact.
Your endurance — your consistency through seasons.
When all three align, prosperity naturally flows, because God can trust you with more.
Then...
You might not have the biggest bank account,
but your marriage is thriving, your children are growing in faith, and your home has peace.
You might not own a mansion,
but you’re rich in grace, patience, and spiritual wisdom.
You might not be famous,
but heaven knows your name — because you’ve been faithful where God planted you.
“You can be the richest man alive and live financially humbly,
because your wealth is in your marriage, your family, your ministry, and your walk with Christ.”
So that wherever we move we see prosperity
So that “If we move, God establishes our steps.” — Proverbs 16:9 echoes this truth:
“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
When you’re rooted in God, every step becomes strategic.
Even your detours lead to purpose.
Even your delays prepare you for deeper roots.
This is why...
Joseph looked unsuccessful in the pit, the prison, and the palace —
but God was prospering him at every stage because his roots never moved.
The Mark of a Prosperous Man
A prosperous man doesn’t just accumulate for himself— he multiplies for others.
He multiplies peace in his home, love in his marriage, faith in his children, and honor in his community.
Closing: “Planted to Prosper”
Closing: “Planted to Prosper”
Brothers, the truth is simple — a man’s fruit reveals his roots.
If we are planted in anger, rejection, or pride, that’s what will grow in us.
That is the fruit we will bear.
That is what people around us will see from us
But if we are planted in Christ — in His Word, in His presence, in His Spirit —
then we will bear good fruit, fruit that remains.
Calling
God is calling men today to be rooted, fruitful, enduring, and prosperous —
not just in one season, but in every season of life.
Because prosperity Is about peace in your home, love in your marriage, faith in your children,
and purpose in your steps.
So if you’ve been planted in the wrong soil — bitterness, sin, or disappointment —
tonight God wants to replant you by His rivers of living water.
He wants to renew your roots, restore your strength, and refresh your fruit.
Brothers, let’s be men with fruit —
planted, enduring, and prospering in Christ.
