Joseph and his father’s family remained in Egypt. Joseph lived 110 years.

INTRO—

**WELL DONE** — “Surprisingly,” the name Weldon has nothing to do with the phrase, ‘Well done.’ It actually comes from two Old English words ‘wella’—meaning spring (water) & ‘dun’—meaning ‘hill.’
BUT, “well done” is about having A NAME.
…JOSEPH:
His birth:
Genesis 30:22–24 Then God remembered Rachel. He listened to her and opened her womb. She conceived and bore a son, and she said, “God has taken away my disgrace.” She named him Joseph and said, “May the Lord add another son to me.”
Today, let’s look at the end of his life to find helpful reminders for us all for character qualities needed in our life to hear our Lord Jesus say “well done” when we enter his presence at the end of our lives…or his return.

Faithful through Generations [Genesis 50.22-23]

Genesis 50:22 “Joseph and his father’s family remained in Egypt. Joseph lived 110 years.”
Genesis 50:23 “He saw Ephraim’s sons to the third generation; the sons of Manasseh’s son Machir were recognized by Joseph.”
Over his 110 year life, Joseph…
Listened to (walked with) God — Dreams & Interpretation [Genesis 37.2-4, 5-11].
Imperfectly (potentially) = Genesis 37:8 ““Are you really going to reign over us?” his brothers asked him. “Are you really going to rule us?” So they hated him even more because of his dream and what he had said.”
Had Moral conviction (courage) — Potiphar’s wife [Genesis 39.1-20]
Which did land him in jail…!
Forgave Others — Joseph’s brothers [Genesis 45.1-15; Genesis 50.15-21]
((Focus on Genesis 50 text.))
((He lived to see his grandchildren and some great-grandchildren.)) [[I would love to do this…although, if not, God has been just as faithful to me as he was to Joseph.]]

Confident Assurance [Genesis 50.24]

Genesis 50:24 “Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will certainly come to your aid and bring you up from this land to the land he swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.””
Confidence in God (…God’s faithfulness).
God had been faithful to Joseph…
Amid his brothers.
When pursued by Potiphar’s wife.
While in jail.
In interpreting dreams [his; cupbearer & baker; Pharaoh]
Administrating for the famine.
For God to keep his promise [to Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob, et al.]

Hope for the Future [Genesis 50.25-26]

Genesis 50:25 “So Joseph made the sons of Israel take an oath: “When God comes to your aid, you are to carry my bones up from here.””
Genesis 50:26 “Joseph died at the age of 110. They embalmed him and placed him in a coffin in Egypt.”
The hope of faith.
“When” [Genesis 50.25]
For ‘others’…who are God’s people—sons of Israel, ‘your.’
Joseph believed in the Exodus before the exodus!
“Carry my bones up from here” [Genesis 50.25]
Desired to always be identified with his/God’s people…when his popularity in Egypt likely could’ve garnered him a sweet burial plot there!!

CONCL—

When the writer of Hebrews was inspired to include Joseph among the “Hall of Faith” personalities, he chose to focus on… ?? —
Hebrews 11:22 “By faith Joseph, as he was nearing the end of his life, mentioned the exodus of the Israelites and gave instructions concerning his bones.”
Genesis 50:25 “So Joseph made the sons of Israel take an oath: “When God comes to your aid, you are to carry my bones up from here.””
Exodus 13:19 “Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, because Joseph had made the Israelites swear a solemn oath, saying, “God will certainly come to your aid; then you must take my bones with you from this place.””
WELL DONE!!! —
