1. Truth
1. Truth
Deuteronomy 6:6–7
“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house,
and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
Deuteronomy 11:18–20 “Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:”
Teaching point: Parents must model and teach God’s truth daily, weaving it into the rhythm of life.
2. Patience
2. Patience
James 1:4
“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
Psalm 103:13 “Like as a father pitieth his children, So the Lord pitieth them that fear him.”
Teaching point: Raising children takes time — God uses the process to shape both parent and child into Christlike maturity.
3. Authenticity/Sincerity
3. Authenticity/Sincerity
2 Corinthians 8:8
“I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.”
2 Corinthians 1:12 “For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.”
Teaching point: Children can spot hypocrisy quickly; sincerity in faith and love builds lasting credibility and trust.
4. Hope
4. Hope
Romans 15:13
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
Teaching point: Parents should cultivate hope — not despair — in their homes, pointing their children toward God’s faithfulness and future promises.
5. Love
5. Love
1 Corinthians 13:4–7
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”
Teaching point: Love is the atmosphere in which children thrive; it is patient, kind, truthful, and enduring.
6. A Good Marriage
6. A Good Marriage
Ephesians 5:25, 28–29
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it…
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church.”
Teaching point: A godly marriage is the foundation of a godly home — children learn love, respect, and faith by watching how parents treat one another.
