John 5 Discord

Our Lords first 2 Miricales were privtae (water into wine, Noblemans son been healed) This is the first mircale Jesus did that was public (healing the man at the pool) and on a sabbath day which incited opposition from the Pharasees . This begging the offical persucution of Our saviour in Johns Gospel.

The Word Bethesda Means “House of Mercy” or “House of kindness” or “place of the outpourings” Ponder on this as you go through the narrative in John 5 and what our Lord is doing and saying. In John 5:3, in a litteral translation from the greek states “In these were lying a multitude of those ailing, blind,lame,paralyzed. awaiting the of the water moving” The Greek word for awating used here (ἐκδεχομένων,  ekdechomai) MEans “to acept from some source” The Ailed were awating for the water to move in the pool, and the One who gives Living water was moving to. Neaer the Sheep gate of all places. This Ties driecrtly with Jesus been the Good shepherd in John 10 which we will cover some more connections in chapter 10 and been going to, Jeremiah 50:6, Ezekiel 34:23-24, Micah 5:4-5 among other places.

The blind man was Invalid for 38 years, In Deuteronomy 2:14 somthing else happend for a total of 40 years but they where camped at Mt Sinai (Horeb) for 2 years, lets see if you can draw a connection Between the impotent man at the pool and the spirtually impotent people wondering.… Among the Invalid man there were also other with many infirmites that only the messiah could heal (Isaiah 35:3-6 Which Jesus did all of these. in John 5:21 Jesus alludes to himself giving life, Now in 1st centruy Jewish mindset, the Pharesees saw this as increbily blasphmous as they knew God held three 3 keys in ours life (to open the heavens and give rain Deuteronomy 28:12, The key to open the womb and give conception Genesis 30:22, and the key to open the grave and raise the dead Ezekiel 37:13) John 5:21 defiently means more then the phisical resserction but also the how Jesus gifts spirtual life and heals the spiritually dead. Jesus claimed to be eqaul to the Father in his works and also claimed to be equal to the father in his judgement (John 5:22) to the orthodox Jew The father was the “Judge of all the Earth” (Genesis 18:25) No one would dare make this claim about oneself in the 1st century, but Jesus did and proved why!
