Confessing Our Sins
Confessing Our Sins
We must have a right view of God.
Deuteronomy 32:4 ““The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.”
We must have a right view of ourselves.
See Romans 10:1-4 and John 3:16-21...
Proverbs 28:13 “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”
John 8:12 “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
We must realize that Christ is our only hope.
1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,” (see John 14:6, Acts 4:12)
Our Faithful and Just Advocate
Our Faithful and Just Advocate
Christ cleanses us from all of our sins.
See 1 Corinthians 6:9–11...
Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Hebrews 10:14 “For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.”
Christians still need to seek daily forgiveness to grow in sanctification.
Discuss the difference between seeking forgiveness from the judge versus forgiveness from the Father.
John 13:10 “Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.””
Matthew 6:12 “and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Since Christ is our Advocate, we will be saved to the uttermost.
Hebrews 7:25 “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
Romans 8:33–34 “Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.”
Romans 5:9–10 “Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.”
